Title: Kansas Legislature Does Not LIke the Idea of an Elk County
Post by: W. Gray on March 15, 2008, 10:56:24 AM
From the Winfield Courier, February 6, 1874,

"A bill has also been introduced to create the county of Elk, out of the north half of Howard. It is waiting the action of the House."

This bill failed and no further action was taken that year.

The bill language called for the retention of Howard County in the south.
