That is really special. I recognize many of the local names and knew some of the men while growing up in Howard: Ernest Gill, Ralph Perkins, Arthur Cummins. I'm sure many of our readers with roots throughout Elk County will find your information very interesting. Thanks!
Lots of names I recognize as well.
That's quite interesting. Let us know if you find more.

This is interesting. George Dame and Earl Howland were both from Longton. I didn't recognize any other names of men who I knew were from Longton.
Right now, I am going through the book and listing all from Kansas. I think there is more names from Elk and Greenwood counties. There are some towns that I believe that no longer exist.
So what relation is George Dame to Romelia Dame, the third wife of Edward E. Reynolds?
"So what relation is George Dame to Romelia Dame, the third wife of Edward E. Reynolds?"
I don't know!
That's cool. It was just a genealogy question. Edward was my ggrandpa GW Reynolds brother from Busby. He is buried in Longton with two of his wives and some kids in a big family plot and Romelia is buried in a county grave up at the front. Doing some research we found that she was "insane". Of course she could have just been old....or in my case, just naturally addled. HA!
Speaking of the name Reynolds.
Does anyone know of an Adrian J. Reynolds, who was publisher of the Howard County Ledger (Longton), Longton Weekly Ledger, Howard County Ledger (Elk Falls), Elk County Ledger (Elk Falls), Elk County Ledger (Howard City), and is listed as Howard Courant editor in the 1880s?
I've tried to see if they are related and cannot find a connection. There was another Reynolds, M.W., that was a big wig publisher in the early days of Parsons. I wonder if they are connected...brothers??
They could be.
Adrian J. Reynolds son was apparently born in Elk Falls and wound up as a newspaper publisher in Colorado.
