Uhhh, What was that again?
"You know, for me, politics isn't a game. It's not about who's up or who's down. It's about your lives, your families and your futures. And isn't it about time you had a president who brought your voice and your values to your White House?" - New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking at the Virginia Democratic party's annual Jefferson-Jackson fundraising dinner.
What was that again????
So where is she going to board Bill?
Now Roma,
surely there is a dog house somewhere there at the White House.......after all
they do bring their pets with them...
Wonder if she thinks we are all gullible??????????
Strange times are here........getting scarey too.
AOYP
Hillary is correct! It IS about time we had that sort of president in the whitehouse. Her error lies in believing that she is that sort of person! And that kind of person was not in the whitehouse during the Clinton administration either! Hillary is power hungry and will do ar say anything to get what she wants! I see that she has now dismissed her campaign manager. Not a good sign for the wannabee Queen! :o :o
Hillary's comments may equate to "I have some more Whitewater land to sell you."
Replacing her campaign manager would seem to be another deliberate strategic move and it might be a good sign for her campaign.
Hillary may be trying to stem black voter losses.
Maggie Williams took the job and she is the black woman that was her chief of staff when she was first lady.
Maggie Willams is the person who could not recall anything about Hillary's involvement when shes was questioned by investigators into the many possible abuses of power within the White House ie, Travel office firings, FBI files, Vince Foster missing files, vanished Rose Law Firm files, etc.
Maggie Williams testimony was consistent with the testimony from Hillary--she could not remember anything either.
sorry - can't keep my mouth shut any longer. Many of you are complaining about the political candidates "bashing" one another. So what are you doing on this forum? How is that any different?
Good Point!
Okay--- so somebody say something nice about Hillary! Come on, I'm waiting! :-X :-X
I will take the Fifth and just be still...........just know someone with more words than me will jump in.
This is America and we have the RIGHT to grump and groan if we so choose.
AOYP
RE: sixdogsmom's request for something nice about Hillary and is waiting.
Do you have the rest of your life?
Now that is bashing.
What most of us say about each other and to each other is banter. I refer you to the thread, Roll Call to All Members. Janet and Teresa apparently hate each other, but I know for a fact, it is just the opposite and better not say something bad about one of them to the other. Unless you know the persons involved, a lot of banter seems like bashing when it is just good natured kidding around. I have a sense for this as my older brother was the master of put-down, but he did it in such a way that it was funny and flattering. I take things as humorous and good natured as a matter of course. When I find that it is meant to be the other, then I am disappointed and hurt that some people can't seem to find the joke. Maybe I am Pollyanna. If I am then I am just happier than most folks.
there is quite a difference between good natured kidding and down right insulting the intelligence or integrity of a political candidate. There are faults with most of those running for president, but who of us don't have? There was only one perfect person ever walked this earth and they crucified him. Don't forget that. When it comes voting time, just be sure to pick the person that you "think" could possibly be the correct choice. Not black, white, man, woman, religion, democrat or republican. Look for the good in these people and not "what the other said about him or her" or what the previous administration or those before him might have done. Remember what you read in the newspaper or hear on the TV isn't necessarily the "whole" story, only that part that will make it sound more sensational. Nuff said
I'm with you Flo! I agree whole heartedly! We really know very little about the people we vote for as our leaders. We can only do a WAG and hope for the best. They say a people deserve the leaders they have. I just hope we choose the right one THIS time!
When it comes to political candidates, I don't believe anything I hear or see. All their bashing and bickering may as well not be said. What they did before they became candidates has more meaning. What they can do as president, which is very little, has more reality. They can say they will do such and such, but when it comes right down to it, they can't do anything except what Congress lets them do. Better to look at their records as public servants than to listen to what they are saying about themselves and each other. I reserve my decision until the day it has to be made. Then it will be made and recorded.
Unless we could afford to attend every meeting that is held all across our great nation, and listen to each and every word that was spoken, then we HAVE TO READ THE PAPERS AND LISTEN TO THE TV .
BUT ____ the past deeds of those poliiticans speak for themselves. And I for one --- do not like a lot of those accounts.
We will be happy to vote, but we may not be happy with the outcome,.
PLEASE, GOD, BLESS AMERICA !!!!
One thing that can be said for Hillary, which both Democrats and Republicans well recognize, she is a fighter.
Although she appears to be losing momentum now, she will not quietly bow out without a battle.
Sounds like an Aggie has finally broken the code.
The following is the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. This year a definition required for the comtemporary term, 'Political Correctness'.
The winner wrote:
"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
I do not view spirited debate "bashing" a candidate. Anytime someone brings up a negative in another's personality or leadership qualities everyone jumps to "poor thing".
Fact remains that all candidates left in the race have considerable baggage to tow around with them and have to tiptoe around it each time it comes up. I can distinctly remember when Mr. Clinton was in the White House going through impeachment proceedings the buzz around the country was that he was the victim of his wifes crooked business dealings and he was really the victim. She has a difficult time recalling facts. That is a problem for a presidential candidate.
Senator Obama is listed as the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate according to his voting record. This isn't a bash against him, but is going to be brought to light as this process goes forward. His lack of experience in Foreign policy. These are merely candidate differences.
Senator McCain, with the bills that he has sponsored with Kennedy, Feingold, and Lieberman. These will be brought up again and again to show the differences between the candidates.
These exchanges are sometimes the only way that we get to see the candidates and watch them deal with the baggage of poor decisions made, unscrupulous behavior, and policy platforms.
I love it when the gloves come off. You can tell more about someone when they are at their worst than when they are at their best.
"Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation. It is better be alone than in bad company."
George Washington
You are right, Dan. The truth isn't bashing. My problem is knowing when it is the truth and when it is embellished past the truth. Petty cat fighting doesn't set good with me. Some of the backers of some of the candidates doesn't set good with me. Endorsements don't mean a thing if they are made with the hope of favors later. Endorsements made with the thought that they can influence the winner are always suspicious. I am getting too far afield so I will just keep my methods of making a decision to myself. Who knows, it might come down to the candidates eye color.
YOU WANT ME TO SAY SOMETHING NICE ABOUT HILLARY,LET ME THINK FOE AWHILE---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- oh I KNOW, SHE HAS NICE HAIRCUT! sorry but that is the best I CAN DO!!!!
This is true and not saying a bad thing about anybody.
If Hillary gets elected and sworn in on Jan 8th, she can resign her position on the 9th and Bill will become our President again. Then he can pick a Vice President and that would be Hillary. This is all legal since Bill was not running for President.
Something to think hard and long about.
Army Mom
Uhhh, What was that again?
Why wouldn't the vice president become president if she resigned?
Because with the power of being President, she can appoint them before she resigns. I am not sure how the law works on this but I have seen it written on several this. Also she did not die.
Army Mom
The President does not have that power.
The 25th Amendment to the Constitution provides that the Vice President assumes office should the President be incapacitated.
If there is no Vice President, the President submits a name to Congress for approval by both houses.
The 25th amendment also provides that the VP becomes President should a President resign.
The catch to this is, Bill is her Vice President!!!!!!
Army Mom
I think I see what you are saying.
If Hillary gets the Democratic nomination at the convention
and she desires good old Bill as her running mate
and the Democratic convention votes him as the VP candidate
and she and he is swept into office by voters
and she then resigns,
Bill would become President under the 25th amendment (1967).
However, Bill could not under the same amendment appoint Hillary as VP.
He would have to submit her name to Congress with both houses approving.
If Congress approves.....
The 22nd amendment (1951) limits any individual from being elected to two terms in office.
It does not appear to prevent that same person from being elected VP and then assume office should the President resign.
I do not think even the Democrats would go for something like this, and besides, why would Hillary consent to be second banana after she worked so hard to get elected?
I am sure that would not be allowed but if it could happen and did happen, look at the power those two people would have. That is the part that would keep people awake a night.
Army Mom
That seems to be even more reason why Hillary Clinton should not be the democrat nominee.
Hillary Clinton has proven that she will do ANYTHING to gain power and she won't step down for anyone. Least of all for Bill ..who she stayed with to gain political power...
The woman is dangerous.
I am not bashing.. I am stating facts!
Hillary's Résumé
Just in case you may think this person would make a good president.
Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most
qualified candidate for president based on her 'record,' which she
says includes her eight years in the White House as First Lady - or
'co-president' - and her seven years in the Senate. Here is a
reminder of what that record includes:
- As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a
process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill
Bradley and Pat Moynahan, key votes needed to pass her legislation,
that she would 'demonize' anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed;
she couldn't even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own
party. (And in the next election, her party lost control of both the
House and Senate.)
- Hillary assumed authority over selecting a female Attorney General.
Her first two recommendations (Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood) were forced
to withdraw their names from consideration, and then she chose Janet
Reno. Janet Reno has since been described by Bill himself as 'my
worst mistake.'
- Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights
Commission. When Guanier's radical views became known, her name had
to be withdrawn.
- Hillary recommended her former law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince
Foster, and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department,
White House staff, and the Treasury, respectively. Hubbell was later
imprisoned, Foster committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to
resign.
- Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clintons, Craig
Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security.
When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to 900
FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of
drugs by White House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied
knowing him. (FBI agent Dennis Sculimbrene confirmed in a Senate
Judiciary Committee in 1996 both the drug use and Hillary' involvement
in hiring Livingstone. After that, the FBI closed its White House
Liaison Office, after serving seven presidents for over thirty years.)
- In order to open 'slots' in the White House for her friends the
Harry Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts
could be awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House
Travel Office fired; they were reported to the FBI for 'gross
mismanagement' and their reputations ruined. After a thirty-month
investigation, only one, Billy Dale, was charged with a crime - mixing
personal money with White House funds when he cashed checks. The jury
acquitted him in less than two hours.
- Another of Hillary's assumed duties was directing the 'bimbo
eruption squad' and scandal defense:
---- She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit.
---- She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the
appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million
dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to
Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his
affairs.
---- Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all.
---- And Bil l lost his law license for lying to the grand jury
---- And Bill was impeached by the House.
---- And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and
obstruction of justice (she avoided it mostly because she repeated, 'I
do not recall,' 'I have no recollection,' and 'I don't know' 56 times
under oath).
- Hillary wrote 'It Takes a Village,' demonstrating her Socialist
viewpoint.
- Hillary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state she had
never lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get
Latino support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support.
Hillary also had Bill pardon her brother's clients, for a small fee,
to get financial support.
- Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000
in White House furniture, china, and artwork she had stolen.
- In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the 'woman card' by
portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on her.
- Hillary's husband further protected her by asking the National
Archives to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their
time in the White House, including much of Hillary's correspondence
and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release
of those records.)
- As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major
legislation. she has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend
to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems
of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.
- Hillary's one notable vote, supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she
has since disavowed.
Quite a résumé, isn't it? Sounds more like an organized crime
family...
Bet she could give The Hitler a run for his money.........boy she is scarey!!!!
So far I can't decide who to vote for, but I sure know who I won't
Wonder if Mickey Mouse would run this year... It seems that each time
we do the count for the election board his name comes up......???
Seems a good time to me.

Purty ain't it?
WHO would you recomend?
I think this year no matter what party you belong too, you will have to vote for the person you think will best represent the United States. Be best suited to know our policy's here and abroad. Finally some one that has won your respect.
Army Mom
Vote for the person who in your heart and mind you believe to be the best person.
So far, I still can't make up my mind.
I guess it will depend on what happens
between now and November.
There are times I want to choose the person
on how nice!!! their voices sound.
After all we will have to listen to that for the next 4 years
anyway.
I pray that there will be one who can help our country and
not hurt us/the USA
just a thought.
I am a conservative and my voting agenda wraps around our 2nd amendment ( the right to keep and bear arms) and the illegal immigration problem ..and personally, I don't think there is anyone running that is worthy. THAT is the saddest and most scary thought.
I think in common sense and good leadership, Fred Thompson was the best, but he is out.. Ron Paul would be my next pick.. but he doesn't have a chance..McCain will sell us out to suit his political agenda . ( he "sleeps" * just a term* with too many Liberals)
and the Huckster is good on 2nd amendment but he is way too soft and he stinks on illegals.
I really don't know.. I think that they all have a bad smell lingering around them.
But most politicians wear that smell.. some are just more potent than others.
But I so totally agree with this one:
Quote- Hillary wrote 'It Takes a Village,' demonstrating her Socialist viewpoint.
To me, that is small-town America and one of the reasons towns like Howard are such a good place to live.
It shows the connectedness of people and, I think, teaches us to be more aware of those around us.
It was great having my children grow up here.
They always knew if they did something wrong, a member of "the village" would let me know about it. And sometimes,
They knew if they did something wrong, a member of "the village" would chastise them and/or correct their behavior. Likewise,
They knew if they did something right, a member of "the village" would congratulate them, tell them "good job."
They knew if they wanted to learn something and mom and dad didn't know it, a member of "the village" would teach them.
Members of "the village" still ask about my kids, even though they no longer live at home.
Members of "the village" keep up with my kids' activities and comment upon those activities when my kids come to visit.
I really, really like the idea of the
'It Takes a Village' viewpoint.
It does take a village. The village takes the place of the many relatives that used to live close together and that you could depend on to help when needed. Now with families so scattered ( and that is the fault of the horseless carriage) many children have no cousins to go to school with. Even siblings are separated in the schools. I knew when I started in the first grade that my sister and older brother were there in the same room with me. I wasn't alone in a room full of strangers. Children are pulled from their families too early. But what else can you do? When both parents have to work and there is no grandma or aunt available to baby sit? Day cares fill a needed slot but it isn't the same as going home to mother or grandma. So many families don't have a choice. Mother has to go to work. Child has to go to day care until he is old enough to go to school. The village plays an important part in a child's life. Where am I headed with this? I don't know. But I do know that it is better to live in a village until at least the children are out of school. There is some inconvenience to living in a small town, but the villagers more than make up for it.
