but not the amount of anything, it is a yummy cake and I think it would travel well and keep for a day or so
without worrying about it spoiling.
Help.

Wow.. this looks good. I made this with blueberries and pineapple, but I think I'll try the cherries the next time. Thanks Teresa!
Teresa,
the one I have uses apple pie filling, is that a good
choice.
This does sound like the one that I had, but wonder what other kinds of
fruit you all use.

died and gone to heaven it was that good........and I need to make it when I

Ya did it to me again! I just gained 2 pounds reading those great variations. Thanks! ( I think ) ;)
My granddaughter does a Pumpkin Dump cake that is filled with butter, cream cheese. I try and find the recipe later.
Teresa's "Apple Dump Cake" with apples and pineapple is the one we use. It is so good! We think it's really better, though, when it is still warm from coming out of the oven!
And top it with whipped cream when you are serving it warm!
I had never heard of dump cake before, and I'm curious -- when did this kind of cake become popular? Was it a 50s or 60s invention, maybe? Or maybe it is recent and just passed me by. I looked it up on the web, and there are lots of recipes for it, but no one says when it got started. It reminds me a little of "wacky" cake in terms of how everything is dumped in one pan.
Audrey
I don't know when.. but it sure is easy to make..
I think it's been around for a long time, and it probably started out as a "wacky cake," because, it sort of is! You do have to wonder if discovering how easy it is to make was an accident, or if someone really started experimenting, and it just really turned out good!
Kinda like going on a date -- then ending up married, huh?

Now THAT has an undertone of a good story ...
Okay ... tell it!
Are you Joking???? TELL IT ????? NEVER !!!!
(http://www.cascity.com/howard/forum/angry.gif) RATS!!!
I found a recipe (for whacky cake, not rat) in a 1961 cook book so it goes back at least that far.
