Cute, the Sonic adds with the husband and wife.

The oh my add?! is the one where the dog dips a piece of meat in BBQ sauce and eats it.

I like the Geico lizard commercials.  :)

Kjell loves the one where the crows ring the doorbell and the man goes to see who is there and no one is ..and in the meantime the crows have slid the glass door shut and he runs in to it. The crows laugh until they about fall off the limb..and they want to do it again.. lol

I love that one, too.

Irritating--  Alltell ad with red shirts trying to intimidate blue shirt.

Unforgettable--   Dog food ad featuring Great Dane's feet and ducklings eating from dog's food dish.
Someone says, "Watch out for the dog"
                                                "What dog?"
                                                "Do you see a dog?"
                                                "I don't see a dog."
                                                "What dog?"

I have to admit, I LOVE commercials.
The more far-out the better. If it gets me to laugh or smile or just  shake my head at then I think
they are great.

I really like the cavemen ones for Geico and if I can go 'eeeeuuuuuuuueeeeeee'!!!! :P :P :P :P ;D that is good
and when ever they use a song I like than that one will interest me. Espically an oldie.........

I think I would watch tv just for the commercials........forget the program.
LOL.
Hugs and God bless

Most shows are better with the sound off.

I fast forward all of them... ;) Takes about 40 minutes to watch an hour show if you can do that.

I like the commercial for a cell phone company . . .

Dad says, "There are 5 of us, we each get 5 favorites - that's 26 people we can call."

The kids, sitting around, correct the dad: 5x5=25. He says they forgot to carry the 9.

Mom says, "Kids, stay in school."

I like that one, too.  Took me a little to realize what he had said.  You know, you hear what you expect to hear.

I watched a History Channel program on On Demand (no commercials) the other night and it was forty-four minutes long.

That would be sixteen minutes of commercials on regular programming.

As I recall in the 1950s, a thirty minute program was twenty-six minutes long.

That means commercials have doubled for an hour program since then. I suspect there are some programs with more commercial time.

Back then, commercials were one minute in length, many times live, and there was only one product featured in each commercial.

Many times, there was only one sponsor for a program and that sponsor had all the commercial time to itself.

I am wondering if anyone remembers the Westinghouse refrigerator commercials in which Betty Furness was the spokeswoman and did all her commercials live?

One evening, she could not get the refrigerator door open even after several tries. She was visibly flustered but good at her work and never stopped talking about how good a Westinghouse was as she repeatedly tried opening the door.

The program director ordered a zoomed facial close up and she kept yakking. But, you could see the shadows of a stage hand moving around her.

The stage hand got the refrigerator door open, the camera went back to normal, and without skipping a beat she kept right on talking and showing the refrigerator features as though nothing happened.

I recall, about this time, a number of Howard citizens were erecting tall towers with television antennas on the top in order to get a television station signal from Oklahoma and Wichita.

My grandmother's tower was perhaps a story or two higher than their home. It had a short iron pipe sticking out on it at about waist level. The pipe was somehow attached to the antenna through the framework of the tower. When they turned to a different channel on the TV set, they had to run outside, grab the pipe and use it to turn the antenna in the direction of the signal.

We had a rotor box that sat on top of the TV.  When we set it to a certain direction, it would make the antenna outside move to try to get a signal. Wichita and Tulsa, Oklahoma stations were our best bets.  During stormy weather, reception was usually less than perfect with alot of "snow" on the screen.  We've come a long way in the world of technology, but in the 50s and 60s this was quite a step up in the world of communications.

I loved the one that aired this summer for I believe Frontline or Advantage where the little pup sings
"There ain't no bugs on me,
There ain't no bugs on me,
There may be bugs on some of you mugs,
But there ain't no bugs on me."

I loved to sing it to my dogs and watch them cock their heads.

Roma, I'm with you and Teresa.  Both of those commercials are favorites.  Least favorite is probably that whining caveman and those that after they are done you are still trying to figure out what they were trying to sell.

ONE OF OUR RANGERS' WILL SING:

THERE AIN'T NO TICKS ON ME
THERE AIN'T NO TICKS ON ME
THERE MAY BE TICKS ON ALL YOU CHICKS
BUT THERE AIN'T NO TICKS ON ME

Would you guess that maybe he likes the pup commercial, also?

I like the McDonalds commercial where it shows a young guy looking in the mirror and he's missing an eyebrow and his buddy hands him a McD's bag and says "sorry". Then it shows another guy with a strip of hair missing, and his buddy hands him a bag and says sorry too. The final clip is the buddy saran wrapped to a dining room chair and a bag is in front of him with "sorry" printed on it.

That one just cracks me up. :)

How about radio commercials?  Of course my fav. is the for the Starlight drive-in.  Come on sing with me!!!  The Starlight Drive-in gives you more call 524-2424.  That is one that will probably stick with me forever kind of like the old Alka-Seltzer commercials.

Just saw another commercial:

Remember the old "Is it real or is it Memorex" commercials, where the glass would break?

I didn't hear the dialogue, sound was off, but the pictures told the story:

Bud Light has a commercial where these guys are at an opera.
One guy opens up his coat to reveal a couple of bottles of Bud Light.
They share a bottle.
The soprano sings and the bottles break.
Then the rest of the bottles in this guy's coat break and he has beer gushing forth.
Then a gentleman in the row in front of him turns around with a CAN of beer.

The commercial did a good enough job that I remember it's for Bud Light, and I don't drink beer!

I just cannot even imagine oreo cookies on a pizza crust - in any way, shape or form.  Oreos  belong with a glass of milk.  Looking at those two guys I think they need to:  BRUSHA BRUSHA BRUSHA, WITH THE NEW IPANA

Mystifying-- The Dr. Pepper commercial that is being shown during football games.  The fat receiver makes a touchdown, pulls a bottle of Dr. Pepper out of his sock, does a celebratory dance, climbs the goal post and does a belly flop from the cross bar.  The mystery is that the bottle of Dr. Pepper is in his right hand all the time until he lands flat on his belly with his right hand flat on the ground, fingers and thumb outstretched.  An instant later the bottle is back in his hand.  Where is the bottle when he lands and how does he get it back in his hand?

it's called today's technology, Wilma.  I catch a lot of mistakes watching movies etc. on TV.  Think this is something I picked up after the made the movie in Severy.

Bad Company (the Severy movie) was about several boys fleeing west to avoid military duty during the Civil War. There must be some folks on the forum who were town extras?

The biggest blooper I caught was a scene in which they were all heading west but after running into much trouble one has had enough. He decides to catch a stagecoach in the distance. From their camp, one of the boys is watches him running after the coach and describes the situation to the others who are sitting down. The looking boy tells the others "He is running after it, he caught it, he is getting inside, and he is off."

The next scene shows the stage stopping to pick him up. He runs up to the door, opens it, and gets in.

Another scene shows them all eating what a farmer calls sowbelly and greens but it looks like all they are having is mashed potatoes.

This is not a blooper but just funny. There is a kitchen fight scene in Severy between two of the boys. One loses his boot and it lands in a big pot of soup cooking on the stove. The boot disappears in the soup. After the fight, the boy retrieves his boot, pours the soup out in the pot, puts the boot on, and exits.

Tired of Already--the commercial that tells us that Kansans know how bad the Holcomb coal plants are for the ecology.  And you know, there is no mention of who is paying for them.  That in itself is enough to turn me off.
