When I was 4 years old we lived just to the east of Myrna's Grandparents - the Greens'..and one Sunday as was the custom in those day - the neighbors would gather at someone's house and there would be games played and a lot of "shade tree" visiting. One Sunday the older children had a race -- and Myrna's aunt Nina Green won - and my Daddy laughed for years about Mr. Green's comment, the kids were all running as fast as they could - but Nina was way out in front of the rest and Mr. Green stood up and said, " Good God, Look at Nina go" !! So for ever after -- if something was moving really fast, my Daddy would say---Good God,. Look at Nina go.
Memories~~``Memories !! The Green family was a wonderful family..and have remained friends all of these many years.
Those gym outfits are a real hoot...they had knees and everything. The roaring 20's!
Jo, I sure never inherited any of Aunt Nina's ability to run. I can remember walking home from school in elementary school and would try to run part way. Always got a "stitch" in my side. I just learned to walk fast.

So, where was that good sized brick school located?
In the town of Elk Falls, it has since been torn down and only the old gym is left, which is where they have their alumni gathering every Memorial Day weekend. I think the last class that graduated from Elk Falls was 1961.

Somewhere I have a brick from the Elk Falls School.
Thanks, since you mentioned the gym I know where that is and someone did mention to me that once there was a large school there.
I may be smoking something but I thought the fellow that has the Friends of Elk Falls association told me they were going to put a museum in the gym. I could be wrong.
Waldo, we go to the Alumni banquet at Elk Falls evey year which ias held in the old Gym and I have never heard anything about a museum in it. I know they use it for community gatherings, playing cards etc.

Well, no wonder you didn't hear about it.
I just found Steve Fry's letter and he was talking of a one-room school house moved in from west of town that is being furnished with some historical stuff.
I am now thinking that one room school is probably close to the gym.
Waldo, yes it is near the Gym, in fact I think it is on the same grounds.
