The Flint Hills Express will carry a story this week about the future of the Zimmerman Funeral Home. It is news that everyone needs to pass along! Yes, the funeral home will be rebuilt. Yes, the Zimmermans will own it. And, in the interim, the Countryside Funeral Home at Fredonia will handle all services until our friend Lloyd Zimmerman gets home from the hospital. Tell everyone that those needing the services of a funeral home should call the usual telephone number for Zimmermans --- 374-2381. Rosie will still answer the phone and get the information to the right person.
Thanks, everyone!
Bless you, Rudy, for getting the information that we all are wanting and relaying it to us.
I never doubted that Lloyd would rebuild. I heard lots and lots of people say, "Oh, he won't rebuild. His wife is in Wichita. He isn't young anymore." I knew he would rebuild because Lloyd loves this community and he isn't old. He is my age, so I think I kind of take offense to people thinking Lloyd is old. ha ha
Rudy, thank you so much for giving us that information BEFORE I get my weekly paper. I have had so many from out of town ask about those very things, and haven't been able to answer their questions, like "will he rebuild" "What if someone dies, where will they have the funeral", etc. Now I can tell them. Lloyd's reputation spreads far and wide because he has dealt with so many many families and he is very highly thought of by those family members, as he is by folks at home. He handled services for my late husband, and Lloyd's caring and compassion made the process so much easier to bear. In addition, I have provided music for many many funeral services, and I see first hand his consideration for the feelings of all. It takes a special kind of human being, and that is Lloyd. Must not forget his sidekick, Paster Robin Haines.
I am with you Janet, Lloyd is in the prime of his life. I was sure he would be back. He has a lot of repairing to do on that body of his. As bad as it is, he has injuries that will heal. We can only thank the Lord for that.

Do you folks realize how upllifting your comments are! What a wonderful way to end a day --- just browsing through the commentary, prayers, thoughts, all the kind ribbing and the newsy little notes that all of us need to know.
If i were younger, I'd haul off and move to Elk County. I swear I would.
You know, Rudy, you dont have to be young to move here. I was 75 when I finally moved back. Thought it would be a good place to grow old.
The greatest surprise I've found in working among Elk County folks is how many of you actually moved here in later years. I thought it was the typical "elderly" county made up mostly of natives ... which would certainly be OK, but every time I come up here I meet another person who moved from another part of the country. I truly believe it is the best kept secret in America.
Rudy, my two cents worth. I was born in Elk County, just NW of Howard, 66 (almost 67) years ago. Was raised in Severy and lived there, married, raised a family, buried my husband, and in Aug. 2005 sold my place and moved to, where else, Howard. "Came back to my roots". The people are so friendly and make you feel like you've been here all your life. And this forum just extends your friendship to anyone you don't know personally.

Not just from another part of the country but from other countries :D
Flo, I didn't know you were that new. I moved here June 29, 2005. Jim and I had been planning to move back here for quite some time, but he didn't make it. We had even bought property in Elk County and spent time here. Bought this place in 2002 but couldn't seem to get around to moving. Then when the melanoma showed up, there wasn't any question of moving. Had to stay close to doctors and treatments even though they didn't work.
yep - fairly new. I decided to sell my place in Severy, put up a "for sale" sign, and it sold in less than 30 days. Girls asked me "what are you gonna do now, mom", and I told them guess I better go find a place to live. This house was the only one for sale in Howard at that time, so figured this was the one I was supposed to have, because after I signed the papers on this one, two or three opened up for sale. I debated about Howard or Eureka, but a "very special friend" wanted me to move to Howard, so being the sweet person I am, I did, and this is where I intend to spend the rest of my life, good Lord willing.
We are glad that you did move to Howard, flo. Besides, we needed the entertainment.
:D :D :D ;) I think that was a "good" comment about entertainment, wasn't it??? OR were you asking me to sing????? ??? ??? ;D  I really do like it here and this forum site is sure great entertainment
No, No. Please don't sing. I'll do the singing.
>:( okay then, I get to be the agent.
OK, I think I've picked up on the community secret. Everybody is so nice that they let Janet "think" she's a good singer. So count me in. I'll never tell.
Dream on. Janet has tons of friends here, and I'm sure that SOME of them aren't as nice as OTHERS of them, sooner or later one of the OTHERS will let something slip and she's gonna figger' it out. Flo, now, how often to you hear a bass female singer? That could be novelty enough to take off!
You two know I'm kidding. Just ask my kids about MY singing, it's a family joke that the boys only went so sleep so fast at night so I'd quit singing to them. Ha!
One reason I would always rather play piano or organ at church. Had a very good alto voice in high school, but 40 yrs. later and a bad smoking habit done took it's toll. The past 10 years if I tried to sing in church and the kids were with me, I got THAT look ::)

Rudy,
They really don't have to let me "think" I'm a good singer. I already know I am. Come to church with me sometime and find out.
Way to go, partner....you tell 'em. I'll back you up on that one. Agent or not.
But if he comes before Labor Day - you guys aren't singing - unless you're doing a special????
I'm playing on the 15th - do you need to work up a couple of songs? Maybe your agent could show up????
Or Teresa with her video camera???? (NOT her machine gun ;))
Or we could have a Forum sing-a-long ::)
well, now, if I'm gonna be the agent, all engagements will need to be cleared through me first to make sure that we don't double up on dates. And if you want them to be filmed, that's something seperate and apart from the performance, and any publication of the event will also need to be cleared. Forum for back-up singers? Royalties from the filming and publications, and Oh, My, don't know if I'm up to handling all this :-\ :-\
I'm impressed!!! You make it sound so real. :D ;D ::)
 I pride myself on doing a job and doing it well :)
Maybe we could just have a good old fashioned hooten nanny because you people are all just a big ole' hoot.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH PLEEEASSSEEE hahahahahahahahahaha
Talk about a HOOT !!! this has got to be the big IT
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT !!!!
