from the HOWARD COUNTY LEDGER, Elk Falls, Aug. 13, 1874
Mr. Bert Jones, who lives about six miles west of Elk Falls, was visited by a streak of ill luck recently. One day last week he lost a good horse by disease; then on Tuesday of this week he tied two horses together and turned them upon the prairie to graze. They got into a pool of water on Wild Cat and becoming entangled, were both drowned before any assistance could be rendered. Mr. Jones is left entirely without a team, and being a poor man is illy able to afford this loss. We are indebted to Mr. N. B. Durbin for the above local.
