Title: Elk County's Father's Day Stork (Berry birth announcement)
Post by: genealogynut on April 06, 2007, 02:16:31 PM
Howard Courant-Citizen
July 11, 1957

The Elk County stork was a little late for Father's Day, but when he came he presented Bill Berry, Longton, with a set of twin girls at Mercy hospital in Independence, June 28th.

In honor of being the "first father" in Elk county on or after Father's Day, Mr. Berry was the winner of a beef roast and a package of beed steaks, presented and donated by Mrs. Fred Freeman, public relations chairman of the Kansas Cow Belles.

The little girls have been names Lyla Marie and Lynda Joe.  Mr. and Mrs. Berry also have a three year old son, Billie Joe, Jr.

I noticed this article did not say one wordabout the mother, other than just referring to her as Mrs. Berry.  Apparently Mr. Berry was honored because he didn't have to do any of the labor?
