Post by: genealogynut on February 23, 2007, 04:13:41 PM
Howard Courant
April 12, 1928

Carl Mason, late Howard boy, now employed at Eureka, was married at Humboldt last Sunday, April 8, at the unholy hour of 1:00 a.m., to Miss Charline Duncan, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H. E. Duncan of Kansas City, late of Eureka, Dr. G. W. Horn officiating.  The happy couple took the train at once for Chicago for a wedding trip of a few days, when they will return to Eureka, where Carl is telegrapher, ticket salesman and cashier at the Santa Fe depot. Carl Mason is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lew Mason of Howard, was born and reared here, and has been in the railroad business the past six or seven years.  The bride is a native Eureka girl, a graduate of Eureka H. S. and a charming and accomplished young woman.  Howard friends heartily congratulate Carl and bride on their happiness and wish them a long life and prosperity..

Tsk, tsk,tsk........getting married at 1 in the morning!  In this area, today, that's still mighty unusual.  Wonder why they chose that particular time.........h-m-m-m, wonder if the groom had a shotgun sticking in his back.

Wouldn't you imagine it was tied with what time the train was leaving - so the newlyweds could use the "sleepers" on the train?
