Elk County Forum

Hello Everyone.
I graduated from West Elk in 1980's and still have many friends who live and work in the West Elk District. I am always coming across these incredibly toxic posts by "ROSS". For the life of me, I can not put a face with that name.
For a person who has much to say about the education of the West Elk Student body, maybe grammar and punctuation should have been more of a focus on a personal level for ROSS, whomever he or she is.

Welcome to the Forum, what is left of it.  You are right.  Ross is not a native of Elk County.  I don't know just what year he decided to move here, but it hasn't been too many years ago.  He is not familiar with the family connections in Elk County and how things are done here.  Once in awhile he is right about something, but usually he is so far off that I have stopped reading anything he posts.  There are more reliable sources for information.

Do stay with us.  Some of the posts are really worth reading.  I particularly like Diane's update on the East coast and I rely on Patyrn's obituaries.  She gets them on the Forum before the newspapers print them.

I am sorry that I don't contribute more, but my life isn't interesting enough to report about.  We would love to hear more about you, though.

I edited my post from this morning, simply because leaving it as it was would be stooping to ROSS's level.
It is ludicrous that someone who doesn't have roots here would use this great forum to spread their toxic attitudes publicly.
I love Howard. As a matter of fact, when passing through town just the other day, I stopped at Toot's for a burger and fries, which I ate while setting under a shade tree where my grandma's house used to be.

As with anything, there are parts you will like and parts you won't. There are still a few good posters around, so enjoy what you can and ignore the rest.  ;)

As for me, my mom grew up in Howard so I visited her during the summer time. We moved here about 25 years ago; my kids graduated from West Elk. Love the school, love the town.

Ross is the Forum Know-it-all, according to him he is Mr Right all the time. He knows more than the Commissioners
But he could never get enough votes to be the Dogcatcher. He has run a lot of the good people off of the Forum. Frawin was one of my favorites with his Posts "Better Fillup Today", Ross sickened him out of the Forum with his sick twisted posts.

Good Post Joesue, you are right I basically stopped posting and reading any of Toss's posts.I really enjoyed the Forum until Toss  came on. He will probably post some nasty remarks to me for this post. Proelkco, I know you and I really respect your judgment and wisdom, keep after Toss for his crap. Wilma, I liked your posts as well and really miss you on the Forum.

Thank you, Frank and I must say that I miss your daily "Better Fill Up Today", too.  I do think about ressurecting the "What Are You Doing For Excitement Today" thread, especially when the day is so dull I don't know what to do with myself.

Thank you Wilma, I have thought about posting it again, but have lost interest in the Forum. I still market oil and gas in West Texas and New Mexico, I have my own marketing company , Petromark Services, I market several thousand Barrels of Oil per day and a lot of Natural Gas. When I started with Phillips Petroleum 45 years ago Oil was $2.70 per barrel, I Watched it go from $2.70 to $39.50 a barrel by 1980, then the best President in my Lifetime took office, the one and only Ronald Reagan by 1986 oil was down to $9.00 a barrel and operators were jumping out the windows. Since that time I have seen oil all the way up to $150.00 a barrel and back down to where it is today, $47.10 a barrel. In my opinion Oil is going up, the Saudis are going to see to that. I got interested in this Forum a few years ago,  as I was a resident of Elk County then.  At first I was fascinated with the topic and questions...then, the statements turned to just  wrong and some  non factual ones based on 1.  an opinion, and 2.  just to get our blood boiling.  I called the poster in question out, and I did not have an issue.  However, that being said, some posters did, as it became for whatever reason a PERSONAL fact/opinion. 
When the statement read:  "this is my opinion, believe it of not..."  I quit reading.  I don't react to reactionaries.
   I would have no problem contacting Wilma if she said she had tomatoes as big as pumpkins...and asked to come see them, how did she do it, and etc... I think she would say"Well, I exagerated (sp) , or yes, come and see!"

For that reason, no reasonable communication can be had from said poster in question.  ( Although I have never been treated rudely by he.)

Thank you, Ready.  I try not to post anything that I don't know to be a fact.  And I have exaggerated and later confessed to it.  But it was fun.

I don't post much any more as I am sure no one wants to hear about my health problems or my flowers or the birds that I see each day and that is about all that I have to talk about.  But I do enjoy hearing about what the rest of you are doing.

Wilma, I do enjoy hearing about your birds and flowers. (I wish you didn't have any health problems.)It gives the uglies some good balance.

People were complaining about you when I came on and I attempted to be kind to you.
But sticking your nose into the politics in Elk County, Kansas from Delaware and bad mouthing myself and others of over the Elk Kon nnected NGO with out knowing first hand what they were doing and not comprehending Saul Alinsky methods, but still dissing people that live here was totally uncouth of you. And I eventually responded in kind.

Remember the petition that you said probably carried no weight?
The one that carried the weight of law and the weight of the State Attorney General?
And most importantly the weight of the voters, remember that?

I only put the petition together and collected signatures. The voters of Elk County made it work.
And they got the job done and Stopped the West Elk School from jacking our property taxes up by 8 mill over and above the 4 mill they can jack us up by with out asking.

I have been asked if there is a petition the at could be done to stop a resent action planned by our County Commissioners my answer was simply that I don't know.

Now, I would not want to stop the making of improvements for EMS, But I can agree that placing the suggested EMS building on the Rodeo Grounds way out by itself on intersecting highways is a dangerous plan. Dangerous to the EMS personal. Even they are afraid of what could happen out there. They know that druggies know that EMS carries narcotics. This location make them a much easier target for druggies.

No I'm not against everything, I am for conservativeness and against Liberal wastefullness.

Our Two Elk Kon-nected Kounty Kommissioners are being very narrow minded about the input from taxpayers and voters.

What do they have to gain from their attitude? Are there possibility of kick backs of some kind? We
may never know.

Even though they have plenty of room to expand the present location and own the land and save tons of money, they won't even discuss the idea. Why? Are they gonna have a monument made to put in front of a  new building at the new location with their names on it to bolster their false ego's?

One of the Two Elk Kon-nected Kounty Kommissionersapparently made it crystal clear that the new location would put the ambulance 8 minutes closer to her mothers home. While telling a citizen their mother would just have to wait the extra 8 minutes. How gracious of her, right?

And you see it has absolutely nothing to do with Delaware? And being rural with very little population is in no way comparable to where you live in Delaware with a very large population.

Do you comprehend even just a little bit of this logic ?

Yes the Kon-nected with the hyphen indicates disconnected.
We never hear the threats and uglyness from the disconnected Elk Kon-nected followers, We no longer see any activity out of Elk Kon-nected.
Why don't we have Kon-nected Kounty Koversations about this EMS project?

I'll tell you why I think we don't hear from Elk Kon-nected, LLCand i have said it before. I said,  I thought Elk Kon-nected, LLC was simply the Old Guard in a new dress. The Old Guard that they said they worked very hard to keep out of Elk Kon-nected, LLC. Which to me means the so-called Old Guard is still very much at work here in Elk County, working secretly.

Make of it what you wish, it is simply my thoughts and opinions.

If you don't appreciate my posts to your backstabbing ask the owners of this forum to delete this thread, otherwise this will be up here for a long, long time. and I plan to visit this thread just to say hello to keep it from being removed by normal expiration.

Joe, I am not afraid of Ross.  I just don't like his posts so I don't read them.  Therefore, I have nothing to post in response to them.

In Ross' defense, I think the forum was in the early stages of decline before he showed up.  Ross just hastened the process. 

I thought there was some movement to fix the forum, perhaps I was wrong.  I really miss how it was when I first joined.  I haven't been able to get back as often as I used to, and I enjoyed keeping up with the goings on of Elk County.  I think what has happened here is somewhat indicative of what is happening in our country today. New forms of media have made it easy for extremists to bully their way into mainstream discourse.  The rest of us are to busy with other things and don't have the willpower to fight them.  Meanwhile the controls on the system have eroded.

I had refrained from posting for some time because I was asked to.  I think I'll start posting again.

I think your problem is that you don't think citizens and voters and taxpayer have any right to speak up or to stop wrong doing by any form of government. Just that socialist liberal thinking, in my opinion.

For instance, when the school board raised our property taxes 4 mill and followed that up with a resolution in the newspaper in an attempt in a sneaky way to raise them another 8 mill. I really think it upsets you that a simple petition stopped that simple resolution from becoming effective.

The sad thing is that Teresa is going to read all of this and draw the conclusion that her first instinct was the correct one.  I have put Ross on ignore, along with those who are part of his clique, so I haven't seen any posts for a great long time.  The easiest way to deal with that kind of toxicity is to just ignore it...Delete it from ever being seen for the first time.  I so miss all of the people I used to enjoy talking with.
