I like to call it predatory lending by the government on behalf of the education system. Of course, the Senator Elizabeth Warren would not agree that it's predatory lending. She supports lower government interest rates for students so the colleges/universities get the money.
By the way, the Federal government is not supposed to be in the loan business.
