KILLED BY LIGHTNING

Ed Guthrie the 20-year-old son of Larry Guthrie of Cedar Vale, was instantly killed by a bolt of lightning at 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon while standing under a big oak tree at the home of his brother-in-law, Andy Polson, on Rock Creek west of Cedar Vale.

Mr. Guthrie had taken refuge under the tree while a storm was coming up.  It was not raining but he thought no doubt that it soon would be hence he went to the tree.  The wind was blowing the dust when there was a flash of lightning a loud report and the young man fell dead.

Neighbors soon gathered and a physician was called but nothing could be done. - Sedan Times Star.
