NEODESHA- Lester D. Hawkins, 89, of Neodesha, formerly of Winfield, died May 27, 2005, at the Golden Key Nursing Home in Neodesha.
Cremation has taken place.
Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday at the Grenola Christian Church.

Hawkins was born Jan. 13, 1916 in Grenola, to Anna (Shull) and Harvey Hawkins. He was raised on the family farm northeast of Grenola and attended country school.
On Nov. 3, 1940, he and Lorene Wallace married in Howard. They made their home in Winfield for 60 years.
He was a sheet metal worker at Boeing, Beech and Cessna aircraft companies in Wichita and at Cessna at Strother Field in Winfield. Following retirement, he did numerous jobs including yard work.
He and his wife moved to Neodesha in 2003 because of failing health and to be near their children. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Winfield and Neodesha.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Hawkins, Neodesha, a daughter, Joana White, Thayer; two sons, Ed Hawkins, Wasola, Mo., and David Hawkins, Chanute; a brother Charley Hawkins, Wichita, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
