"Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class - involving high meat intake, use of fossil fuels, appliances, air-conditioning, and suburban housing - are not sustainable. A shift is necessary which will require a vast strengthening of the multilateral system, including the United Nations."

No Meat on Mondays in Los Angeles
By Susan Jones
November 12, 2012
(CNSNews.com) - The Los Angeles City Council is urging all residents to observe "meatless Mondays" from now on.
A resolution adopted on Oct. 24 reads: "Be it resolved, that the Council of the City of Los Angeles hereby declares all Mondays as 'Meatless Mondays' in support of comprehensive sustainability efforts as well as to further encourage residents to eat a more varied plant-based diet to protect their health and protect animals."

If I was in range, I'd enjoy heading down to Longton to the Elk River Drive-In for some hamburgers.
Nothing like having good beef to eat since it's Monday - or any other day.
Hey Red,
How often do you get down to Elk County? Is it much of a drive for you? Do you try and eat at the other fine dining establishments as well?
On Monday, sign me up for one of your biggest steaks...not that ground crap! ;)

Nope, no signing up in advance. The local soviet (collective council) rules require you to be in line, in person, to receive your allotment. Of course ground crap may be all that's available (fairness, you know). And don't forget... Friday's are baked potato day!
The National Cattleman's Beef Association as well as others like the American Angus Association in the past couple of years have applauded McDonalds and Walmart for deciding to serve better beef, not the utility crap. Most recently an upward trend in beef consumption has actually been labeled " The Walmart Effect " , since they decided to quit selling crap. They basically had to since outlets like Kroger were kicking their ass in beef sales.
It will take more than some California Crackpots to get people to quit enjoying a big porterhouse or filet mignon. It's too good.

Remember the frog? Inch, by inch.
I forgot to mention that California has quite a few cattle ranchers, well established ranches. They as well as those in the rest of the country have been battling the vegetarian movement as well as a larger problem, PETA and the Humane Society. The Amercan cattlemen have not been sitting by and letting these people spew their non factual BS. ;)
So whats wrong with being a vegetarian?
Besides missing out on awesome food and being a bit odd... absolutely nothing... as long as you don't try forcing that view on others and try getting meat banked or outlawed in some way.
Don't know any vegetarians but I think I would like them---I hear
they taste just like chicken !!

And, if cooked properly, liberal progressives do too. Though east coast breeds are a tad more gamey... I'm told it's the 'blue blood' influence.
Let anybody go hungry for a week or two and see what happens when you hold a steak in front of them.
My neighbor across the street is allergic to any meat protein. She gets hers from vegetables. So hanging a steak in front of her would get no reaction at all. Fortunately her kids don't have the problem nor does her husband so she cooks meat just for them. I don't eat as much red meat as I used to but I do love a good steak.

I agree with mtcookson, I think I would die without meat. I would be sitting there with my epi pen eating my Porterhouse steak. Also, from what I read about that type of allergy it doesn't happen if you eat primate meat. My first recipe would be a slow smoked rack of monkey ribs with BBQ sauce.
Whoa Diane, your neighbor is pretty screwed up. She's allergic to any meat protein? Last I knew, every human is made of meat and it must be really rough on her sex life. Wink, wink, poke, poke  ;D :-* ::)---Robert

No thank you to being forced off of my land to live in one of your Sustainable Communities as well!
No thank you United Nations!
I will eat red meat anytime I so desire or any other color of meat for that matter!
Isn't it time to say to HELL with the United Nations Sustainable Growth Plan and Agenda 21 ?
Isn't it time to stop the NGO's that unknowingly use United Nations tools of deception?
Isn't it time to get some gonads like our founding fathers had?
Or do we simply accept their treatment as a bunch of girly men, until it is to late?
Just say no!
No more United Nations !
No more NGO's
No more Government Abuse on the local level!
Then the proper attitude may float up to the State and Federal Levels!
Just say no, instead of being a kiss ass!
Kissing ass may make you popular

Saying no shows character!

Al Gore & John Kerry come to mind. As for you, while convinced you're a liberal, I'm not sure you have blood of any color in your veins.
If it all gets so old & is so painful, why do you take such obvious delight in returning for more? Hidden masochistic tendencies? Or just a codependent enabler?

I just finished reading some reports from a friend who is helping out on Staten Island. They are in really bad shape and will be for some time yet. And you think you have problems? Patriot and Ross. It must be so nice to have me to blame things on. You have said yourseves you have no interest in the east coast or Delaware or me or anyone else here. So NOW you care? Baloney. Shame, shame, shame.
We had damage here too, thankfully not as bad as the areas north who didn't keep up with the beach replenishment the way we do...actually, we have to or we would lose it all every winter when the winds change from south to north.
Many, many people from here have beach homes in NJ and even some of the big sea walls failed, with damage, but less than areas that were without dunes and were over washed. We did at one time have a family place there, but sold it, thank goodness, or it would be no more.
Ross, you have no idea what you are talking about as far as the east coast damage. You don't know where I've been recently or what I've been doing, and I'm not going to tell you so you can be petty and rudely accuse me of bragging. One can never simply say anything about anything when the rude ones, who delight in ridicule, are looking for fodder against their sworn enemies.
You can "bet" all you want. Why not check out some facts and then talk? You said yourself it is different here and than can be really advantageous. We have huge think tanks of people to help find solutions for problems. Some will take time to just get through. It takes about three to four days to just assess big disasters like Sandy was.
The amount of house and building debris etc. is just unbelievable.... and what to do with it all? Some areas are still under water, with bridges destroyed and no electric or water or sanitation. Some places are so washed away, the property boundary lines are now deep under water. So now what? The Rockaways in particular are in bad shape, but the clever ways people are coping makes me really admire what the companies and transportation folks and others are doing to help. Unlike some (ahem) who just want to assign blame and point fingers uselessly, they are BUSY doing what needs to be done, with all the resources that they can get from anywhere, including Gov't. Notice you don't hear anything about people's guns being taken away? It's non issue here.

Why would I feel sorry for myself? I didn't have any damage to speak of because we prepared for it. I do have many, many friends whose families were heavily impacted. I won't be talking about any of it for obvious reasons. You just aren't up to it mentally or emotionally.

"No I didn't!"
"Yes you did, and you're not invited to my party on Saturday!"
"I didn't wanna go to your lousy party anyway... and now I'm gonna steal your boyfriend!"
Then they go find a sympathetic shoulder to whine on. Pathetic, isn't it.
If I'm so pathetic, why are you wasting your time reading me? I'd think you'd have more important things to do, like stirring that pot for the next civil war you are so hoping to stand on the side lines and influence poor souls like Red to actually start shooting about. Have you designed your uniforms yet? How ya gonna pay for it? That's the only answer? Violence...again? Are you willing to risk losing ...again?
Yup, the shoulder to whine on? That's a good description of the conversations you, Red and Ross have among yourselves.
Now go play and leave the really important stuff to the rest of us who get it from a worldly perspective, not just from bloggers who always have their hand out, or from just Fox . Try CNN and BBC and other world networks also who give a much broader and less emotional view. I used to enjoy Glen Beck and Rush, but they have totally lost it. And because we would not understand and comprehend the county here in Kansas in which we live with out your great knowledge, from way up there in Delaware, now would we? How about telling us about the people in the New York area that are stealing the shovels, wheelbarrows, hand trucks, pry bars, tarps, buckets, hard bristle brooms, industrial rope, contractor trash bags, particulate masks, work lights, work gloves, flashlights, heat lamps, and gasoline from the rich and giving it to the hardest hit areas and the poor people. I appreciate that the whole wide world revolves around Diane.
Let's not consider a national crisis that is building, no sense in that, not at all!
Is the austerity crisis beginning?Throughout the fall, there's been a pretty big disconnect (That's the opposite of Konnected isn't it) between businesses and consumers on the looming tax hikes and spending cuts. Business leaders have been generally fretful, some more vocally than others, and business investment has been dragging. Consumers, on the other hand, have been more optimistic about the economic outlook, with consumer confidence and retail sales looking up.
"But the latest round of economic indicators suggest that economic gloom is finally starting to set in with the general public, and the austerity crisis may have something to do with it. The Reuters/University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index fell 2.2 points from the preliminary reading early in November to the final reading after the election. Overall, consumer confidence is still 0.1 points higher than in October. They're still more optimistic about the current state of the economy, but consumers have become more pessimistic about what's ahead—a change that IHS Global Insight chalks up to "increased awareness by many Americans of the fiscal cliff."
"If the political rhetoric and finger pointing reaches a fever pitch similar to that of the debt ceiling crisis in the summer of 2011 then consumer confidence is likely to take a very serious hit, and this holiday season will not be very cheerful," the IHS analysis concludes."
Does that mean that only the big retailer's economic development will take a big hit and become poor overnight?
To hell with the customers, oops wait a minute they need each and every one of us spending our money on overpriced material goods to survive don't they? But that doesn't seem to matter, cut their hours, cut their pay and then they can't spend in your big fancy stores for overpriced material goods now can they? Tell us oh worldly one!

Patriot,
To hell with Meatless Mondays----reading a pity pat party is lots more entertaining.
While I have your attention Patty---did I ever tell you I plow numerous gardens for people and do not charge them----use the 5 ft roto tiller on my baby tractor and till garden spots and never charge. Did I ever tell you I catch, filet, bag and give away probably a pick up load of fish every summer to elderly people that can't fish. Hell, while I'm patting myself on the back, did you know I have mowed more yards than I can count to help old people or people that are gone some where and their yards need mowed----for free !! I do cut the city out of money once in awhile because I bush hawg vacant lots and such---for free---to save the land owner from having to pay the city to do it. You know why you didn't know about any of this ? It's because that's what a lot of people in Elk county do to help their friends and the elderly and they don't need to announce to the whole world that they did volunteer work---they just do it and keep it to themselves. I would tell you about all the heads of hair my wife washes ,cuts and sets for free to women who are not able to do it but she aint a braggart like me so I won't---oh yea, she cuts their fingernails too---but don't tell anyone I said it.
Sorry I came across as wanting praise---I don't---just wanting to make a point

Sure do, they close up shop over the weather! LOL. The folks out in the weather just shit out of luck. But FEMA workers are sitting nicely in their luxury hotels

Your absolutely right and they are getting cited by the health department for not wearing hair nets and carrying around meat thermometers out there in the elemnets! Gotta love Big Governmnet regulations you know.
GRRRR. No local fire companies ever close up because of weather unless they were part of the emergency and got severely damaged as was the case with Sandy. If you think we sit around waiting for FEMA you are very wrong. I don't understand why you all are so hard on us. Most of us are unpaid volunteers who do what we can because we care.
Some of you don't get the difference between just sharing what's been going on, as is labeled in the one thread, or twisting things around, so no matter what I tell about I'm "bragging! Do you do that to your local people when they are singled out for awards? Are the 4-H kids" bragging" when they get their photos in the paper? The math and science and music winners? Are beautiful flower and bird photos bragging? I think not! Family photos? bragging? Really? Please note I have never posted a photo of anything from here! As much as I would like to, I know how rudely I would be treated!
You have people who don't live in Elk County who are free to post daily doings and photos of their garden etc. and I really like
seeing them and hearing about their families and trips.
There has to be something terribly wrong with a few of you who have nothing better to do than try to bully me!
Ross , I have no ties with the NW and we are a mid Atlantic state, hardly north of you at all...please get it right. Also tell me what I ate that was so funny.
Jar, you "brag" about your homemade wine, your home made jerky and that crazy bunker. etc. so what's the difference? Why do you assume anyone is interested? You brag about your military service...and how long ago was that? Do you know the difference between bragging and justified pride? If you say something it's pride but if I do it's bragging? How rude! So you do things for others. I can't imagine why you wouldn't.
I really do know what you few are up to and have been warned about it... and you would be amazed by whom. You figure if you insult me often enough I' ll slowly have nothing left I can safely write about and I'll leave. Wrong!
You are giving good examples of how to bully and show what the word "ridicule" means. I suspect you have some come- alongers in training out there and you are showing them how backward and immature some Elk Countians can be. You are very successful at it. Aren't you tired of this? Yes, this is off subject. Tough. Don't set standards for me that you don't adhere to yourselves.
Good Post.
Good post, my eye, good crap is more like it.
Look at me I'm a hero, I volunteer, pat me on the back, that's what that;s about.
I'm working a major catastrophe by sitting on my fat butt counting donations. Wow I'm impressed.
I'm a volunteer for the fire dept, whoopie.
The firefighters out here in the wilderness are the real hero's they volunteer for the job and actually dawn the firefighting gear and and operate the equipment to put out fires.
The firefighters in the cities are paid good wages to do the samething. Hero's are not paid professionals, they are paid professionals with retirement benefits and health benefits and savings benefits.
Real hero's, are usually unpoken hero's that help their neighbors and never thing twice about it. Thanks for showing a real volunteer and hero Jarhead. Job well done. And it didn't take some fat cat and his organization to tell you to do it, so the organization could take credit for it.
I seen to remember konnected kounty kommissioner Hendricks NGO elk konnected, llc using Elk County Schools yearly program of the students doing community services by cleaning up the town, They tried to get West Elk to do it in howard for elk konnected, llc and they were turned down by the School. But wpouldn't that have shown good headlines for elk Konnected, llc for all the volunteer work of the kids. I think it would have.
No real hero's don't ask for praise, do they!
There has been an out pouring of help in Moline most people don't know about. I can't be specific because I don't have the right to expose anyone of the people that care and do out of love and caring. They know who they are and they know why they do it. And it's not for praise.
This is real volunteering and it is what mkes Elk County great, not some self serving NGO, not some headline in the news paper, it is the good people of Elk County.
And I am not talking about the self serving people of Elk County, but the quiet hero's of Elk County.

Patriot,
To hell with Meatless Mondays----reading a pity pat party is lots more entertaining.
Well golly bee geebers, jughead. I never knew you were so humble. I guess there's a bunch of us radical bullies who need to look in the mirror and reevaluate our miserable, good for nothing lives. Goodness knows that with people like you in the world, the rest of us just don't measure up. Thank you so much for the glimpse into your life. It's a valuable lesson to us all. I would praise your wonderful deeds, but I know you aren't bragging or looking for credit... you're just trying to help us all see what greatness we could achieve if we would just invest the time & energy that you do in being a great human being. Thanks. We outsiders are forever indebted to special folks like you.
Maybe I'll start by appreciating the Meatless Monday people. After all, they're just trying to save us from the evils of beef consumption.
Quote from Diane:
Jar, you "brag" about your homemade wine, your home made jerky and that crazy bunker. etc. so what's the difference? Why do you assume anyone is interested? You brag about your military service...and how long ago was that? Do you know the difference between bragging and justified pride?
Diane, did you not read my post ? I plainly said I was a braggart so why are you so upset ?
Quote from Jarhead:
but she aint a braggart like me
PS:I will let you in on a little secret---I don't really have a bunker. It's just a plain ol storm shelter/ cellar---but don't tell Warph or Larry.
Warning...off topic ..if you value your sanity, don't read! This is retort to some smart Alecs. :P ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
My fire company has all volunteer firefighters. None are paid ,not the chief or the officers or any of us, as I have told you before. Why do you deny it? Yes, I'm very proud of firefighters who go to a lot of personal risk, in our case for no compensation, and hundreds of hours of training away from their homes and families. If you don't see that as at least as valuable as cutting lawns for free then to H...with you.
Newark is not a "Big City". We do have some first line paid EMTs because we are too busy now to do it with all volunteers any longer..so stuff it ya big dummy. You don't know what you are talking about...as usual.
Sharing local fire stories, usually among ourselves, is just what all firefighters do. It's not a ploy for thanks. You shooting
off your mouth doesn't make it so, either. We learn a lot that way, especially in regards to safety.
As I have said several times before, I have never been paid for anything I do for my fire company or local parks either.
I have never asked for, nor expected the recognition I've received over the years. Shouldn't I be pleased to be noticed? Why do you lie about it? Why does that make you so angry? It can't be anything but jealousy, now can it? Or maybe ya don't like getting older and are more insecure with your own abilities...is that it? Ya can't do what you used to? hmmmm? You couldn't even pass the physical now could ya!?
There must be some reason why you make battering me around so important. Now I wonder what that could be? Some have made some suggestions to me about that, others are as puzzled as I am.
We have only one fully paid fire company in the entire state and that's Wilmington Bureau of Fire. So what. A lot of Delaware is rural and has little fire Companies. So what?
Newark's fire district has a lot of rural area too. We cover about 28 square miles, including Newark proper.
As far as other volunteering that goes on ,you don't know either because we don't talk about it anymore than you do .Big Whoop.Ya ain't that special! People everywhere should be helping each other. That's what good Americans should be doing, isn't it?
When you lose your life cutting someone's grass for free, I'll be impressed and send flowers. What you do of course is very nice and I'm sure is appreciated by the receivers of such work, but I didn't know it was a contest, especially such a dramatic one. There they go puffing up for each other again. :D
Ask how many volunteer firefighters die each year trying to save lives and property. I know of none that plowed or hawged to death. ;D ;D ;D ;D. Just remember ,you are the ones making an issue of it. I've just been trying to have pleasant conversation for several years until you all put a stop to my ability to do so by loosing the hound dawgs of war on me.
Now, if you really think your local fire service and EMTs are such unsung heroes ,why does the one take his night shift on an old sofa when the other guy has a bunk? What kind of local support is that! That shows some appreciation doesn't it? So yes, look in the mirror and see who is there! Blah, blah, blah
Ross, the families of the 343 really appreciate your loving attitude and firefighters don their gear they don't "dawn it'', although there have been some times when I did see the dawn come up after some very long nights.
Jar, I'm not the least bit "upset" with what you wrote. I find the non humiliating posts very interesting, but for some reason I'm not allowed to tell about what I've been doing, that's what I don't understand. Why should I have to fight for every word?
If you aren't interested, just don't read it and leave the ones who do enjoy my posts alone!! Why pick on them too? Ross was just very rude, without cause, to someone who liked my post. Was that to try to humiliate the writer... and then he says he wants people to post..Why ,to set up victims? Are there no decent people left?
Wow !! I tell Patriot about mowing yards and such---no mention of Diane at all---and now all this hate---because I mow some yards "then to hell with you " ??---I'm a" smart alec" for addressing Patriot---"stuff it ya big dummy" ??
Unbelievable !!
As for the "I know of none that plowed or hawged to death" then put a bunch of smiley faces after is is very rude and hurtful. Since you know of everything that goes on in Elk county I'm sure you were aware that my wife's uncle, Cleo, did loose his life from bush hawging, a few years back. He got wound up in the power take off. If you want to attack me it's OK but I think it's very cold hearted of you to attack my wife or her family that way when she has never done a damn thing to you.
Oh, and a plowing death? You might want to check with your "contacts" because just a few years ago I was 2nd on the scene to a local farmer near Oak Valley who was plowing and his tractor ran off a creek bank and over turned on top of him. I'm sure some of his relatives read this forum and take great offense to you thinking it is funny. Oh yea, the famer who was killed by his tractor---later his son lost his life to a hay baler. No, farming is not dangerous---so you stuff it !!

Apparently not up there.
After all this is the Elk County Forum in Kansas and we mainly discuss what is happening here in this little county and you try to compare it to that metropolis of
New Castle County, Delawareand it's popuation of 541,971 which in no way compares to Elk County, Kansas population 2880 now does it?
Nor does Newark whose population is 31,454, does it, that far excedes the population of our whole county. The population of Newark is nearly 11 times that of Elk County. By the way a population of 31,454 is not considered a small town by any means in these parts. So, get real will ya?
New Castle County Government is the largest local government in Delaware. There are about 21 boards in your county and we only have one, the County Commissioners.
Newark is the home of the University of Delaware. We only have a High School.
Your county even has an ethics commisssion, something we could use I suppose.
Yoiur Community Voice in your City is at http://www.cityofnewarkde.us/CommunityVoice/Ideas?initiativeID=Quality-of-Life-Improvements-5#moreInfo perhaps you could communicate there improve your communities QUALITY OF LIFE and really make a difference in Delaware.? And get and give some respect at home in Delaware. Maybe.

No ma'am you don't try to compare Elk County to other areas of the country that have nothing in common.
I'm sorry you took it that way.
I'm truly sorry if some of you have had serious farm accidents in your families..I was talking about when volunteering on someone else's property.
For some reason you (plural) don't understand that I didn't live in town until after college. I grew up as a country girl and lost several friends to farm accidents. I had a personal friend who was killed in a roll over, another who had his hand destroyed in a corn picker and another who almost lost his leg when his pants got caught in the PTO, so I'm no stranger to such things.
Here we also get boating and beach accidents and of course drownings.
You don't all live in the country either. Most of you who I know, live in town!.
My post was meant to be about why such a put down of volunteer fire fighters? If all were paid across the country do you know what your taxes would be?
I guess the forum really has changed in that one of the fun things used to be sharing what was and wasn't different about the places we lived in, from coast to coast. Some I knew about already from visiting, but things like the Outhouse Festival was new to me and super cool. Folks would post photos of that, the table setting event, the various parades and such....very enjoyable.
I don't think small towns are lacking in anything...except apparently computer manners.
Some of you have decided I live in hell here and that's a shame. We aren't that different, just more of us. " Country " is five minutes north of me. Do you feel the same about the people who live in Independence? Why they even have a ....shudder...Walmart! which is more than Newark has.
My comparisons have always just been for interest and information..you are the ones who choose to put a mean slant on what I say and try to put me in a defensive posture over everything. Fine,be that way. Some of you keep putting words in my mouth that actually came from others... Yes, I'm pissed right now and Patriot, I don't plan on publishing this, so if it rambles...deal with it. >:(
I've always enjoyed hearing about things out there and yes, I do comment sometimes on how we do things here. Not as a put down, but just for interest.
Ya know Kansas is 'way bigger than Delaware and has 'way more population and big cities. KU is huge compared to UD. So I don't know what you've got to complain about. Do you really feel second class some how? Why? Some of the nicest people I've ever met were Kansans. Now I know this is again off subject, but so were yours(plural.) If Teresa wants to move this for being out of place ,she will.

Nope. The forum still has plenty of areas for sharing the fun stuff you describe. Seems Politics isn't on of them. Not sure dissing the entire forum over your hurt feelings and perspective of one area is intellectually honest.
Uh, Pat there was a time when you issued a spelling challenge.... or perhaps its just a typo?
.and it's not about hurt feelings as it is a lack of respect for someone you've never even met! Now I get trounced even when I fight back for good reason. Do you still really want me to wimp out and boo-hoo when the attacks are made personal? I had to learn to fight that way, it's not in my normal nature. I had to learn how from Pam, who suffers no fools and finally left for good. I really miss her wisdom. Hopefully she'll forgive me for using her name.
As far as I know I've never "dissed" (city black ghetto talk) the whole forum about anything. Please prove that. It certainly has never been my intention.

Good reason? You are still wimping out and boo-hooing. You've just found more aggressive ways to couch your insecurities and inadequacies. I opine that your lies about there being no 'fun' places on the forum is evidence that some delusion continues on your part. There are lots of 'fun' places here, yet you appear to engage in petty, off topic, fights here in some vain attempt to display your ego-centric vitality.

Your hollow complaints about the 'failing forum' is, in itself, disrespectful of the many who do still enjoy 'fun' forum places. As for this corner of the sandbox... if you dislike it so much or are too self interested and incompetent to play, you're welcome to stay in the 'fun' places. And even in your retort here, you must try and prove your 'superior teacher' status... city black ghetto talk. Playing some obscure race card again? That's what good Obama socialists do, right? Try to make every thing about class or race and hate.

Your disrespect for me, or vice versa? Your point was unclear... but, either way, you've nailed the fact correctly.
Now, about the nature lovers attempts to reduce meat consumption via government influence and ultimately harm the cattle trade.....
Patriot, the socialists want their own agenda for you to support and comply.
Just so happens that one of the leading socialists here is from Delaware - but
I'm not saying anything that you already don't know.
Pat, it would seem YOU are actually the one doing the complaining. If you can't handle what I write, that's actually your problem, not mine.
Even politics used to be a fun place until you (plural) came along made the attacks personal and ruined it for us all. We used to be able to actually debate ideas both, pros and cons, as some of us still can do behind the scenes and verbally tussle in a friendly manner over various points and national issues without making it ugly and personal.
One of you, who will remain unnamed for now, just about single handedly ruined that by seeing "commies" behind every bush and personally labeling anyone who would stand still for it! And you actually think that's just? Try communicating without the personal labels for awhile and see how much calmer things will get...TUMS stock will go down!As as far as labeling me as delusional, where is your degree? Even you called that libelous in another thread while talking to new poster. Why try to throw your weight around...ya ain't nuttin' special, but you would be an expert pretzel maker. I have never witnessed such twisting and turning and attaching things together that have no relationship to each other. On never mind, I forgot about Ross.(Why does Charles Manson come to mind?)
Yes, I can be outspoken, but no more that you are, as you sit there and try to ruffle my feathers and patronize me with stuff that is chosen,on purpose, to be very personal and hurtful and adds adds nothing to any topic .and yes , I've had to learn to sling it back. Believe me,I didn't want to. You want Alpha Female? I assure you I can do that when forced to it, unwillingly.
I have asked several time before to stop the personal attacks but to no avail. I suggest you cut it out, as your labels are very close to true libel and your attempts to defame me for your own personal reasons are very immature for someone who wants to be taken so seriously. That does not have ''freedom of speech" protection, by the way. I did check with a lawyer friend. A few of your locals have started to stand up to you and I wish them the courage to continue.
Since you local elections are over, I'll not say any more on those issues.
I do hope the others will stand up to your labeling and nasty name calling. It isn't necessary. It makes you look like you have nothing of real value to say...Can't attack the issue, attack the person. Real classy huh? Typical ultra conservative way of talking? I really don't know.
Now lets see if you can respond in a reasonable manner.I'm betting you can't and will go right back to the knives and daggers and personal attacks. Some poor teacher apparently never taught you to communicate in any other way. I'm going to try very hard not to respond to what I know is coming. Tag,you're it!
Red, ooooh, you are SO scary. I might have ta' get out my 38 and clean it! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Why do we constantly get accused of attacking, insulting, and whatever else can be thought up when giving out facts and opinions that differ from your own... THEN if/when it is dished back you make it seem 10 times worse? I went back to some posts from 2011 where others and I were simply debating and stating what the government was and wasn't allowed to do and out of nowhere someone in our "group" was accused of bashing them, calling them names, etc. when I saw NO ONE do such a thing.
It seems to have continued on and on since then. We state fact, give opinion, and are attacked for it. We can dish it back, make fun, do whatever but its always us that are considered the evil ones... noooo never the "other side". This is one of the most common tactics used by the left in government as well. It just pathetic... downright pathetic.
I see it happen all of the time... something is debated or someone attempts to debate something that is simply undebatable, like for instance defending government performing actions that aren't legal for it to perform, then they try to claim they're a victim of some sort of "personal attack". Come to think of it, the only major personal attack I've ever seen (one that was bad enough to be reported to Teresa and Kjell and removed from the site) was against one of "us".
You know what though? Keep doing it. Seriously. It only helps us to stash away more and more proof to show how the left operates. Once people realize the truth, it will only hurt those that do it in the end.
Somewhat, kind of, remotely back on topic... I actually just got Beck's new Agenda 21 book. Wife has read it already and I'll be starting it shortly. She said it is veeeerrrryyyy good but also incredibly scary with a ton of interesting facts.

What is you definition of a gentleman, someone who keeps their mouth shut and does not express his opinions. A neutered male who does as he is told?
My first wife was like that! She wanted a man that did exactly what she wanted and would follow her around like a puppy dog.
That's why she wanted a divorce because she found a married man just like that. Yea she married my best friend six months after he divorced his wife of 15 year and gave his children a single parent home and he married my wife one month after we divorced. I sincerely thank him for that, because I have the true love of my life going on for over 20 years, but I sure fell sorry for him. After 20 years he still follows behind her literally. poor, poor guy, he is not allowed by her to be a man.

What? Now I'm confused. The left's fault? Where did I say anything was the left's fault? I can most definitely say the left's fault would be something like raising taxes, extreme regulation, further removal of our rights, and so on... but when I was talking about the left, I was talking about tactics. What I constantly see here is a tactic that the left always uses, if they can't debate or defend... they claim they're the victim of some "attack".
Need an example? Ambassador Rice says something [untrue] about Benghazi. Republicans question her over it. Suddenly the republicans are being accused of racism, war of women, whatever else BS they can think up. No, I'm actually rather capable of thinking for myself.
QuoteYou usually don't act up like they do. Is this some thing new?
So pointing out shenanigans when I see it is acting up? Maybe new that I'm saying something about it, I don't recall everything I've posted in the past. Regardless, I'm getting tired of these constants accusations and attacks directed toward "them" when all they've done is try to get the people aware of what is going on. What is so bad about that? Well, unless what they're exposing is what you want to see happen in the communities, then I could see the reason to go after them. But its never a debate on what they're exposing trying to defend it, its always claim victim status or attack. Always.
1- "Hear ye, hear ye! The city is to ban carry of firearms!"
2 - "Well what's so bad about that, we'll be... safer!"
1 - "Uh... its... illegal... you know?"
2 - "Buuuhhhwhhhhaaaatttt?? How dare you attack me and insult my intelligence?! Your mother's so fat she produces her her own gravity! Hey everyone, they're attacking me, help me, I'm a victim!"
1- "Uhh, no, I didn't attack you I'm just trying to point out that..."
3,4- "How could you attack 2 over that?! Your mother's so fat... she's... just... FAT! SO THERE!"
1 - "Uh guys... this is getting out of hand. I'm just trying to point out that the city is banning legal carry of firearms and that it isn't legal for them to do that"
2,3,4 - So what, if we don't agree with you we're wrong? Your momma's fat!
1 - City... firearms ban... illegal?
2,3,4 - Nannynannybooboo your momma's too fat to fit on YouTube
1 - Fine... if you want to play this game... your face is funny!
2,3,4 - :o How... how could you? ATTACK!! ATTACK!! THEY ARE ATTACKING US!!!
Yeah... that's pretty much how I see it happen aaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllll of the time sadly.
QuoteYou are usually much more of a gentleman about what you disagree about.
I tend to shy away from disagreements but I'm tired of the dishonesty. I feel like I'm wearing thin, like my patience is dwindling. I can't stand the changes I'm seeing this country go through. And they changes are always accomplished using vile means. It isn't good, it isn't healthy, it will ONLY end in disaster. If I see an opportunity to try helping in some way I'll probably take it but until that time I'm going to anything and everything I can to protect my family and I from the destructive path this nation is taking.
In the end, my family and friends are what I care about most and they are the ones that will get my assistance when the time comes. If a disaster strikes, the people aren't prepared, and they
expect the government to help them, I probably won't have any interest in helping nor will I have any sympathy... my heart won't bleed... I won't feel anything. We warned them over and over again, history warned them over and over again, God warned them over and over again... if they are incapable of seeing reason I won't shed a tear. I've already shed more than I should have and I'm not even 30 yet. Doesn't seem like the right or the Christian thing to do? Well, I'm sorry. They wanted the government to take from those that can and give to those that supposedly can't so I simply don't have anything to give. If I strive to become rich so that I could willfully help those that truly can't... I'll be chastised and attacked for it so why would I bother? Heck, the new "rich" aren't even millionaires... its now two-hundred-fifty-thousandaires... ooohhh.... those greedy bastards they are!
I feel sorry for the truly small businesses that will me smashed with the new greedy-fat-rich-bastard tax. Trust me, it does NOT take a big business to make $250,000. A one person business could pull that off easily... and they definitely won't have a personal income NEAR that amount by any means.
But anyway... I'm tired and am rambling now. Finished Agenda 21. I don't read much, at all. That's actually an understatement. I basically never read. If its not something I can watch or play I usually don't bother. Last books I read were Lord of the Rings when the first one came out and I only read them because of the movies. This book though... was absolutely amazing. I could NOT put it down. Its a fiction based on what the future might look like if Agenda 21 was basically fully implemented to the extreme... the way they would love for it to happen I'm sure. It is just downright scary. Everything that happens is based on things in Agenda 21 and the stuff in there is just... how anyone could have even thought this stuff up is beyond me. They are sick and twisted individuals. I question the overall "stability" of people who make those horrible "slasher" "grindhouse" movies/stories but, to me, they pale in comparison to political leaders who come up with this garbage.
Rambling again... night all! :D
mtcookson,
Now that we've resolved all that (LOL), I'm finding the Agenda 21 book a fascinating read as well. I bought 2 copies and will be donating one to a local library. If you haven't see the 'real' UN Agenda 21, here's the link:

Yes Martha, there really is an Agenda 21, and yes, it's really as spooky as they said it is. Especially when you see how ICLEI is working in local communities to advance The Agenda. :)

Not necessarily anyone here in particular... just some hypothetical people. :D
Hey Diane, take that ham hock out of your mouth and try to stick to the topic.
By the way, have you mailed your checks to PETA and the Humane Society yet? Time is running out to claim it on your taxes. :P
It's fun to keep digging in the dirt, but it sure bites when you find out you've been digging on the backside of a dam the dam finally breaks.
I just consider the source (the Walmart people) on some of these personal nasty comments that supposedly don't happen.
No,I don't look like my photo, much older and all gray now. So what..at least I have hair! What does that have to do with anything ,let alone the thread topic that you all keep leaving? Try cleaning up your own act first.. I haven't asked Teresa to up date my photo and I should probably take my photo away altogether. It seems to cause poor health in some people. ::)
Now MT, if you go back to your reply #59 you'll see, "This is one of the most common tactics used by the left." As I said, you usually are better at debating the issues and don't go so often to the name calling, generalizing and labels. I usually enjoy what you have to say.
What good does it do when people fight and insult each other, even if they have to create an opportunity, and never get to debating the real issues? Since when is staying personally neutral so difficult?
As in have said many times ,if I was "left' ,I'd be a Democrat, not a Moderate Independent.

WOW!
"Walmart people"? Nope, no socialist class warfare here. Next you'll be calling them CAVE people.
Factually, there are many 'independents' who think, act, talk and vote like leftist democrats... 'moderates' chief among them.

I didn't directly label you, I'm making a comparison. Exactly as you quoted I was simply stating the tactic being used is one of the common left tactics. Does that itself make you left? No, not necessarily. If anything, I would like to see the right start using the left's tactics against them and see how they like it... however... with the left controlling the majority of the media it wouldn't work well so that's out of the question anyway. The media needs to change first, then they might actually be able to get back to civil debate.
Anyway, most of the time I disagree with your views but I have nothing against you, as a person, at all. If you lived around here I'd give you a smile and a wave or hello even knowing the disagreements I have with you. As far as labeling, I would be considered faaaaaaaaar right so if I compare you to myself, you would technically be left.
In the end I don't care about left or right. I care about right vs. wrong, freedom vs. oppression. All I simply want, is liberty. I want all of our rights back. I want personal responsibility restored. I want this country to go back to its roots that made it the greatest and strongest nation this planet has ever seen and will ever see until the end. The so called "problems" this nation faces are problems that the Constitution had already fixed 225 years ago. These "problems" have been created by big government politicians moving the country further and further away from its Constitutional roots.
Its been such a long time that the Constitution has been under attack and such a long time that people have been drained of their rights that too many don't even know what they're missing and that the Constitution would fix everything. They've been taught the opposite, that it has failed us and that Capitalism has failed us. NO! We failed the Constitution and we failed Capitalism.
We're told we have "crony capitalism" but that's not true. We have cronyism, corporatism, AND socialism... none of which can exist with true capitalism. Capitalism IS liberty, it IS the free market... and we are not even close to a free market anymore. Truthfully, we've actually never even FULLY practiced Capitalism in its purest form, where we have the greatest possible liberty. The closer we get to it, the better things get for the people but big government politicians continue to pull us further and further away.
Nearly everything these days either requires a license to work or is regulated in some way by the government and the government just can't seem to get away from regulating things. Capitalism cannot exist with government interference, with government regulations. If the government does anything more than its job to protect the people's (and their business') rights... it is not true Capitalism. And to clarify, government regulation is not protection, it does NOT protect the people, it is the government's way to control the economy in some way. Government regulation may give temporary security, but in the end it only hurts the people. True Capitalism is self regulating, but for some reason people seem to fear it or maybe just don't understand it and keep letting the politicians control everything. Must be the personal responsibility thing. ;)
Anyway... I'm rambling again. I'll step off my soap box and try to go be productive somewhere.
Edit: To add a simple clarification on the some of the above; We use some
ideas from Capitalism... but we are not practicing Capitalism.
Perhaps you should just change your photo to one with your foot in your mouth. Yeah, that would be fitting. Take a look at your last several posts Dye anne, all the same antagonistic crap.
I never set foot in a Walmart. Sam ran it well, not so his children. I do applaud their decision to start selling select beef, however.
Now that would be back on topic ::)

Patriot ya gotta love them folks with their
Common sense and a terrific sense of humor.
MT..Nice post. Thank you. Sorry it took awhile to get to it. By the way, on topic...Meatless Mondays are ridiculous. People could always do that if they wanted to.
That is the point, it is ridiculous, but as long as people buy in to the falsehoods that PETA and the Humane Society spew out, we must counter with good hard facts about meat consumption. Our ancestors depended on the benefits of eating meat, and as far as I know, there is no substitute worthy of exploring. People on their homesteads would not have survived without the beef, chicken, and pork they made sure was there to sustain them. They neither wasted nor exploited anything, and neither do I. I seriously doubt that the majority of California's population know anything about wringing the necks of a couple of chickens, scalding them, plucking them and cutting them up for a great Sunday dinner after church. These organizations have a RIDICULOUS view of what the Creator intended, and are hell bent on cramming tofu down our throats to, in their opinion, spare the poor creatures from harm. Those individuals who raise livestock treat their animals extremely well. They are not tortured, they do not suffer, though sadly, many people who only know that a supermarket is where their food comes from are clueless to reality. :P
;D I like tofu also! Many years ago I plucked many a chicken. I wasn't allowed to kill or bleed or scald them, but I pulled plenty of smelly wet feathers. We raised fryers.
By the way, again...hopefully for the last time..I'm not for gun control, never have been. I'm for using good sense around guns and good gun safety education. Parents who don't keep their guns safe and something happens to a little one... looong jail time. There is just no excuse.

.. but when I was talking about the left, I was talking about tactics. What I constantly see here is a tactic that the left always uses, if they can't debate or defend... they claim they're the victim of some "attack"...
And if they get called on attacking and claiming victimhood, another tactic is to deflect the discussion in some totally tangential offshoot that has no relevance to the issue being debated. Often by picking some totally obscure fictional statement made in the debate, waiting days and then tossing it out like a bone. Yep, another tactic used by the left to avoid reality, draw attention to themselves and away from the real issue being discussed. Leftists should stick with whining and victimhood... it's a better fit. Better yet, talk about government endorsement of private, single issue causes like meatless Mondays. On topic... what a concept. Though a concept apparently out of the reach of many socialists... and independents. Or maybe it's AADD. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
It was an analogy, with a totally fictional scenario, as in hypothetical.
You were a teacher? Hopefully, it is WERE. ::)
I walked past the Coffee Shop on the way in. In addition to the hum of salad shooters, what was that sucking sound?
Patriot,
You are a braver man than me, visiting the coffee shop. I do agree with several of the posters there. This name calling---veiled threats---cussing---this nastiness, needs to end. I know of several fine folks that are afraid to post anymore because of the fear of being attacked. I listed just a few of the name calling and etc, quotes below---and these were from just this one thread !! No wonder Varmit is scared to come aboard anymore and I fear that Warph will quit posting too, out of fear. I will not mention the name of the person who said these things but if you can't figure it out let me know in a PM.
Quotes from someone back east:

Patriot go sit in a meat grinder.
I said I walked PAST the area, not that I went in! Good lawdy, with the way some of those folks attack, it's not safe. Imagine how they must conspire together in the back room! As for those quotes.... ain't no secret there. LOL
Not to be outdone, jarhead. Remember these oldies but goodies from the peace teacher:
You are a sad, small man, Steve
And we will be here, long after nimrods like yourself are dead and buried whether you in your backwards, pigheaded manner believe it or not.
Heh,heh,heh... Yup, I'm real proud of fighting back with those. A few years ago I wouldn't have had the courage to stand up to the the attacks and toss them back.
Ya can't shame me any more. I'm immune. The crack about being a teacher... Personal much? But I would expect no different, considering the source. Same with the fat comments. There are many out there who have no room to talk! I wasn't drastically heavy when I was young.
I have managed to ditch 33 pounds, but need to go for more, how about you?
I especially enjoyed the "meat grinder" come back to Patriot, who started it with reply #11! A great joke was made of that, but he missed it and had the nerve to accuse ME of misbehaving! Really funny. Please notice my come back wasn't until reply #13
I have been assured I'm just fine and can continue to fight back as I choose...or not. It's up to me, not you. It's very easy for readers to go back a few posts and see who said what and in what order. ( If they haven't quickly deleted it .) I'm sure it took awhile to look up those comments. I'm flattered. ;)
I have said many, many times, ya cut out the personal attacks that add nothing to real issues, I won't need to fight back. But that would ruin your fun. No? Of course I can now do the same and hunt up your personal attacks... dueling replies at 40 paces, eh?
If you are talking to me then knock yourself out to find where I have ever called you a name, except long ago I called you Lady Di, and if you remember right that was a joke ,on a bet. It is you that needs to go back and read the posts. I was talking to Patriot about mowing yards and stuff, never mentioned you at all, and you came at me with fangs bared ---and got personal---I believe it was you that called me a big dummy. I have NEVER said a thing about your weight so I have no idea what the hell you are even talking about. Why don't you be open minded just once and go back and read every post on this thread, then you tell me who got personal with the attacks---and NO, I have never deleted any of my posts---I don't know how. Just a hint for you---I don't think the posts Patriot posted were quotes of yours. I do believe they came from another teach---but they do sound like some of the personal attacks you post. No need in replying back because I know you would rather play the victim, than ever admit you might be wrong
Well shucks ,I don't have to admit when I'm wrong, I have a whole group of people who will tell me that and as often as possible....HA!
Why do you assume I always talk about you when it's usually Patriot who delights in skewering me...or Ross.. Bull pucky or that hillbilly.
Now who is being a victim? ;) I already did say I was sorry to you recently. Did you forget already? I was responding on the mowing business because another poster,I think you know who, was taking shots at volunteer firefighters and I will not tolerate that. This ''who volunteers for what" was turning into a contest of who can twist my words more tightly or quote someone else and say it was me, and was getting silly. Not everything is right VS left and who is using what "method" on whom.
The poor folks on the east coast north of here who are having such a hard time don't care a hoot about the politics of the person bringing supplies or food and water or whether they are from a blue state or a red state. Yes, this is off topic again but it has been taken off many many times that didn't have anything to do with me either. So go talk meat if you want..I just had a good Philly cheese steak with fried onions and a touch of ketchup.
Diane, it appears you've become the very thing you've so vigorously complained about others being. Now that you're down in what you've essentially described as a sewer... welcome aboard! Now, let's see if being a fellow gutter dweller will change any of your perspectives on issues that matter.
Quote from Diane :

Diane,
I should have pointed out that I sure didn't waste my time looking up all "your nastiness".
They were sent to me in a PM from none other than----------------------- someone that has been mentioned in the coffee shop thread as a person "the masses" miss and want them to "come back". This "missing person" left the forum not because of Ross, Patriot & Co but because of the examples of personal attacks he / she sent, that I posted.
I do see humor in how you have" learned how to fight" but when you get caught with your hand in the cookie jar it's "ha ha --tee hee' let's just laugh it off because I'm just having fun"
And I find it humorous that pointing out the obvious is considered a personal attack. Tsk, Tsk.
Ketchup, on a cheese steak ? Some people will put it on anything/everything.
On my.... Jar, please put your lid back on. :-[ I went back and looked at my recent posts and you mistook my rebuttals to Patriot and especially Ross ,but also several others for who I just try to consider the source.
I guess I didn't make it clear enough as to whom I was referring, but I can see how it could be misunderstood by you.
I am sorry and do apologize...just to you though. The big dummy comment was not at you, it was at Ross, who had made some really unnecessary, ugly and uneducated comments about the volunteer fire service and I won't tolerate that. Yes, I'm repeating myself. Would you like it if someone called your Marines girly men? Who go hide when things get tough? I didn't think so. Now watch what they do with that sentence. Mr......with the 5 syllable words to make himself seem credible, will twist that around and use his "system" to connect it to something that has nothing to do with it.
I have never had my hand in anyone's cookie jar, Jar. I speak for myself and if I post wrong facts, I will say so. My opinions are mine though. You may disagree, but you can't say I was "caught" with them. I will decide what issues matter to me.
In a few cases you all have been much too close to some of your own issues and can't see the whole picture. As hard as it has been, I have not interfered except to say,in several different ways, and I repeat ,if you have proof of wrong doing, then report it.
Jar, as far as your list of my fighting comments, now go back and look what preceded mine and post the ones I was fighting back against. There has been some pretty rough stuff thrown at me. Even if I haven't been around for several days, I find my name has been in play. Why?
Pat, if you few atypical Kansans are determined to live in your gutters, and looking up from the dark is the only way you let yourselves see things, help yourself. I have much brighter and more useful places to gather more complete information. If you have to have someone to push around to feel manly, so be it.
If I tear into someone, rest assured they deserved it, not because we differ in opinion, but because of the personal, idiotic and uncivilized way they attack the other poster, usually me.
Along time ago I was told that a few of you are not very bright, poorly educated and really don't know any better. I didn't want to believe it...... Oh well.
So Mr. Bull, how do you eat cheese steaks? obviously no ketchup. What kind of cheese? Mushrooms? Sweet pickled peppers? Hot peppers? Which kind ,red round or long yellow? Gino's or Pat's
Amazon order is next. Find someone else to kick around for awhile.

While in the military I saw a guy eating fried eggs totally covered with ketchup.
So, I tried it. didn't like it, but to each his own.
As a child I use to turn my mashed potatoes red, because as a child red was my favorite color.
Well I grew up!
I tried all those steak sauces and that just hid the flavor of my meat, I wasn't tasting steak, I was tasting sauce.
Well by my own choice I now eat my meat with no added falvoring and enjoy it''s flavor so much more.
I'm grown up enough to know the difference between the meat and the catsup, the sauces and the meat.
I prefer the flavor of the meat.
