WARPH,
Cu Chi ? Saigon ? Hells bells son, them places were so far south from the DMZ, that if I ever made it that far south , Australia would have been with-in swimming distance.
For the most part our AO was in the far NW part of the country. On some hills we were on I could (almost) stand facing north and take a wee-wee into Uncle Ho's homeland and turn my head to the left and spit into Laos----now that would be with a light SE breeze !!
At the DMZ booby traps were almost non-existent (thankfully) and I doubt many tunnels. "Spider holes" galore though . The Razor Backs were pock marked with caves, but Rock Apes inhabited most of them. I could of swore I saw a rock ape with lipstick and mascara, poke her head out of one of them caves and behind her was this Air Force dude that was shacked up with her. :D
