I hope everyone has a great 3 day weekend. Take it as a thank you for all that you do in your daily occupation. In that respect let me say Happy Labor Day to all and yes I realize it is a marxist\socialist based holiday, but I don't mean it in that way.

Labor Day is a glorious holiday because your child will be going back to school the next day. It would have been called Independence Day, but that name was already taken." Bill Dodds, Seattle author.

Most of us remember this schedule.

Not...we've got part of Lee coming now with flood warnings and heavy rain AGAIN! That's why we partied yesterday. I wanted Lee's rain to go to you all, but I didn't have enough influence with our meteorologist.

I have spent a large part of today out cleaning the patio, then I grilled some shrimp and lambchops, had a nap, and just got off the phone with a cousin. Haven't talked to her in many years, although we have been in touch via email. We just talked and talked.  :D :D Beautiful day, just beautiful!!

I spent the day, basically doing nothing. ALTHO! I did get a full hour in walking this morning. Yeah, most of it was daudling, but we walked out towards Hitchin Creek and I let the dogs trot without me holding them back, and then did it again in the meadow behind the church...............and then mosied back home. doing nothing just sniffing and sort of sneezing and oh so enjoying just being outside and able to walk.
I did have to add another layer of clothes today. Wearing long pants and a longsleeved T--shirt and walking wore a hooded sweatshirt and almost wished for another layer.
After Saturday I did not have a gripe.
Weekend ball went well, I did the scorekeeping on Saturday and then decided with the new facilities, I just could NOT climb up and down those bleachers with my legs and walk the next day. So, I retired.......maybe I am getting old-er, but not able to keep up with the pace anymore and too many errors (for me).
Sunday, I went to church and then went down for the afternoon and after a break back down till about 7. I took my kids down for the last go-round and a couple of hours was all they wanted.
Good weekend.....good friends to visit with.........and now, my new week begins with a fasting lab work in morning, so about 9 will go eat breakfast at Swinging Bridge then drop in to Tuesday treasures to see what bargains they might have this week.

See you out and about!

The fires are too close for comfort.  One was about 15 miles south of here and they have it out but another very large one is less than 50 miles west of here.  The news this morning is they are letting people back in to the areas that were evacuated, two houses lost.  Don't know if it is out or if it has just moved away from residences.  Another one at Huntsville which is less than 75 miles northwest and another at Woodville, about 75 miles northeast and then more up around Lufkin which is North of here.  I have 6 greatgrandkids up there.

It was in the 50's here last night but very dry, the wind is not blowing and I am sure that is helping.  This is the second time that I have seen it dry as it is now and all we can do is hope people will use some common sense.  They were asking people to not use outdoor barbeque's this weekend, arrested two 19 year olds for starting fires.  One fire was started by an idiot pulling another car with a flat tire that was causing sparks, no houses lost in that one but several acres burned before it was under control.
