Being diabetic has left me with really dry skin. What kind of moisturizer is best?
Lisa
If you have a friend who is a beautician or a barber, have them go to Peel's (or any other off-limits supply store) and have them get you some Glysolid. It's pure glycerin and heals up skin that is overly dry. Expensive but worth it. Burt's Bees also has an almond milk hand lotion that is really good for healing up really dry skin. Good luck!! :)
Hubby was a heart transplant recipient, and as a result of the rejection drugs he had very dry flaky skin. His Mohs' surgeon recommend Ammonium Lactate Lotion 12%. It is available from the pharmacy, and it is over the counter although you must ask the pharmacist for it. This stuff works great, I use it on my dry feet in the winter. It only takes a couple of applications to notice the difference. Cost is about $12.00, and it is worth it!
I'm going to steal this suggestion for my mom. I've never heard of this stuff before...My mom has extremely dry skin and would benefit greatly from this lotion. Thank you!! :-)
Hope it works for her! ;)
does that stuff work on very calloused and cracked heels.
Worth a try! I wear crocs all the time in the winter; not much protection from the cold, so I get dry skin as a result. This lotion works very well.
I used to go barefoot all the time, Hate shoes with a passion. Hot sweaty and confining. But doc says i'll lose a foot if i continue to do so. :( Even indoors i'm supposed to wear shoes. :(
Take good care of your feet since you are diabetic. You lose sensitivity and don't realize that you have been injured until it is too late. I had a sweet little friend who lost her leg, then her life due to this. Take Care!

Yep. I feel your pain. Are you on insulin, if that's not too personal question? Lookin' for someone else to commiserate with! ;D

Nope i won't take it. THey wanted to but i told them only as a last resort. My BS has actually gone down lately after my gall bladder surgery. I'm down to 5mg gliburide.
Boy Lisa,
I am not diebetic but each and everyone here will commiserate with you..................whether you want us to or NOT!
I also like glycerin and rosemilk, tho I do not know if it is still made. Really haven't shopped for it in years.

You can make your own glycerine. Just need some lye water and fat. Shoot can't exactly remember the solution. Have to look it up Glycerine is the byproduct of biofuels now.

Judy, we're gonna have to compare medications sometime! I am always looking for something to better manage my Fibro. The glycerin and rosemilk sounds lovely. I put it on my list like the other suggestions I got. Thanks folks!

Rose Milk is still around. I like the generic Eucerin from the drug store myself. I get one funny dry place on the outside edge of my left foot and the tops of my toes. That keeps them soft for me.
