Title: If We Should Ever Meet Again
Post by: kshillbillys on August 31, 2010, 07:22:31 AM
My mother had a friend years ago who owned a flea market shop in Coffeyville. I would spend time in there with mom and Leona would tell me stories about her past. So, me being 13 at the time, it was quite the romantic "thought" time in my life and I wrote several poems. The one I'd like to share is this one, about Leona's true love that was killed at war...

If We Should Ever Meet Again

If we should ever meet again
You ask me how I'd feel.
I'd feel not sad, but happy
And make you see our love is real.

If we should ever meet again
You ask me what I'd do.
I'd jump for joy and make you see
It was not a mistake to come back to me.

I just got a letter.
I cannot explain how I feel.
We shall never meet again
For my true love was killed.
