Alyce Pearl (Dorris) Swinger, 85, of Garfield, Arkansas, entered into the arms of Jesus Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale, Arkansas.  Alyce was born August 29, 1924 in Brighton, Colorado to the late Harry D. and Gladyce M. (Orton) Dorris.

Alyce attended grade school in Elkhart, Kansas, Texas County, Oklahoma, and Byron, Oklahoma where she also graduated from high school.  On August 9, 1943, she was married to Charles Swinger in Clovis, New Mexico. She later attended American Business College in Wichita, Kansas and worked for 22 years in the City Clerk's office there before moving to Lost Bridge Village near Garfield, Arkansas in 1980.  

Alyce was a member of Lost Bridge Community Church at Whitney Mountain and the Hobbits Club in Lost Bridge since 1980.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Howard, Kansas for over 60 years, and she served on numerous committees in Lost Bridge Village.  Alyce enjoyed her family, sewing, crocheting, photography, and traveling, having seen all of the state capitals in the lower 48 states.

Survivors include three sons, Ron and his wife Charlene Swinger of Wichita, Kansas, Rick Swinger of the home, and Gary and his wife Pam Swinger of Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Gloria Broadbooks and her husband Dave of Rogers, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Services for Alyce will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Rollins Funeral Home, 1401 Hudson Road, Rogers, Arkansas.  Rev. Alan Tyson and Rev. Doug Dorris will be the officiants.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the funeral home.  

There will be a graveside service for Alyce at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1824 N. Oliver Avenue, Wichita, Kansas.  Online condolences can be made at www.rollinsfuneral.com.

Alyce and Charles Swinger lived in rural Howard during the 1950s.  I believe they attended the First Christian Church.
