Jennie D. (Robert) Palmer, age 96, formerly of Severy, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010.  She was born September 13, 1913 to William D. and Mary Alice (Welch) Cross in Climax, Kansas.

She was a graduate of Climax High School.  She taught two years in a country school.  In 1945, Jennie married Harry Jim Robert in Eureka, Kansas, and they made their home on the family farm near Severy.  During Harry's illness, they left the farm and moved to Climax where Jennie raised her two small children following Harry's death in 1957.  She labored at many jobs to make ends meet including cleaning houses, doing home care, and managing the local grocery store.  In 1970, Jennie married Rodney Palmer in Severy, Kansas, who also preceded her in death in 1976.  Jennie was a charter member of the Severy Church of the Nazarene and dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His work.  She taught many Bible studies, Sunday School, led singing , and carried out many other duties at the church.  She was a spiritual leader, mentoring others in their walk with the Lord.

Jennie is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Alice (Richard) Torrance of Pomona, Kansas; a son, Harry Eugene (Kathy) Robert of Colby, Kansas; a stepdaughter, Marjorie (Jerry) Cole of Fredonia, Kansas; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two-step grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.

Jennie worked hard all her life but maintained her positive attitude and smile throughout all the trials.  She will be missed by her family and friends, but we rejoice in her journey to be with her Lord Jesus.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Severy Church of the Nazarene, Severy, Kansas.  Interment will be held at the South Lawn Cemetery.  Family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the memorial fund to the Severy Church of the Nazarene.  Contributions may be left at the church or funeral home  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
