"Decent white folks"?...So, it okay for the Harvard educated President of the United States to express a mindset that is clearly racist, push legislative measures that set one race above another?  Yet when white folks do it, now all of a sudden it a problem?

I may be a redneck piece of white trash, but at least I'm honest.  I ain't afraid to call a spade a spade.

Sixdogs, whining, complaining about process??....So all the back room deals, bribrey, and arm twisting is all right with you?  The majority of the American people didn't want this bill, yet it passed anyway.  We are supposed to have a Represenative gov't, remember?

Decent folks don't have to stoop to name calling?....Where was all this outrage when members of Congress were accusing law abiding citizens who were standing up for their rights, of being racist, terrorists, "teabaggers", etc?

Well said, Varmit.
It seems darn funny to me that no matter what the black say it is only the white folks that are accused of being racist.
IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER....
THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!

There are plenty of black racists and racists of most any color, no doubt about it, but in this case the subject was the  just passed health care bill and the person was the President of the United States. The subject was not all the other things that happen behind closed doors in all administrations. Deals are cut, promises are made and broken...been going on since the 1700's. My point was now, in 2010, be mad about the issues, disagree all you want, but name calling, especially Sambo, who wasn't black in the original, and "Spade"etc. isn't necessary and doesn't strengthen any issue. By the way, Steve, you are full of hooey too. I've never known a man who would willingly iron a sheet, especially now with the perma press type!

Good Lord Diane, you need to crawl away from your computer once in awhile and get out in the real world. Varmit saying he calls a" spade a spade" is not racist in any way unless the person thinking it is had racism on their mind. But as long as you want to talk racism, I have several friends that are black, not AFRICAN -Americans, but just Americans that just happen to have "black skin" and they will be the first to tell you that blacks are by far more racist against whites ,than the other way around. Anytime you think that race baiters like Je$$ie Jack$on and Al $harpton aren't racist then have I got some swamp land to sell you !!!
Unrelated so you can jump on me for straying from this thread but I see where "the anointed one " met with Israel PM Netanyahu yesterday. No cameras allowed to even take his picture of shaking the hand of another world leader. Now I wonder why the media hog didn't want his picture taken with Ben ? I wonder if he bowed to ol Ben like he does to dictators and Muslims ? Maybe he was afraid Netanyahu would slap him silly when they got face to face !!! Doesn't this seem strange to you ???

Teresa

Yep Jarhead...Seems strange to me too........................

And this isn't directed at any one person on here.. but just as a general statement....
(like anyone give a fat rats patottoe)  ;D but  I agree with Ron ..my mom.. and Billy..
This getting your panties in a wad and whining about "phrases and terms and thinking that every time a term is used it is considered  name calling" and racist is about to make me sick.
along with the screaming sexual harassment whiners in offices...(which is just another level of small incidents blown out of control ) in my opinion
and all the other "political and social correct" crap that is being crammed down our throats on a daily basis..
If blacks call me a white cracker hoe... I wonder if any one would stand around sniveling and making statements about "that is so racist".. Doubt it.. Cause I have heard the rantings on public TV of Obamas mentors..about white people and white women... and there isn't a person reading this that doesn't know how all of that turned out..

so .. save the lectures on racism terms to someone who cares.

I'm tired of every time someone opens their mouth saying something that someone else finds "offensive"...someone out there in the world screams and makes a big deal out of it..
Its a fact people....
Blacks have their areas that they can get by with crap... and whites have their areas where they can also say and do things that are ignored.. Women can do things Men can't and Men can do things that Women can't..
Cowboy up~~.. Life is full of double standards ... grow a pair and deal with it!

But like I say............its just my opinion....
Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History !

So now my opinion is "wrong" once again. Of course there is a double standard. That's what we've been trying to change! But if it is constantly excused in one way or another, the next generation will copy the last and it never goes away.  I said I agreed there are racists of all colors, but how does that excuse any of them? I was talking only about that one time, right here, not someone else, somewhere else.   How is a committed southern confederate white man calling a black man Sambo, not a racist slur? In a setting where good friends are poking each other, maybe, but that was not the case. If you were being bullied or harassed wouldn't you want someone to stand up for you? You wouldn't tolerate that kind of thing in your schools...or would you? Ya can't just suck everything up as if it didn't happen. It isn't always the "other guy" who is always wrong or touchy or thin skinned. Some things that happen just aren't right! When you are on the receiving end you'll feel differently.

Jar, I have no doubt Varmit didn't mean black people when he called "a spade a spade"...he's too young! But I'm sure not. In the south east coast it was indeed meant as a slur, if in fact a card game wasn't going on. It started out, "That darkie was as black as the ace of spades'' and eventually shortened to a "spade" being just another derogatory term, along with many others.

The backroom deals I was referring to were the ones that took place during THIS administration, recently, in order to get enough votes to pass the healthcare bill.  Sadly enough, Race, espcially now in 2010 with the first black president, is a major issue.  Because anytime anyone doesn't agree with obama the other side automatically yells "Racist".  I'm sick of it.  Just as I am sick of leglistaltion that benefits one race over the other, such as the immigration reform bill put forth by linsay Graham, which obama will undoubtly sign, granting citizenship to illegals.  I am tired of black leaders, that after the election were singing obamas praises, now critize him for not having a "black agenda".  And instead of disowning these idiots, the POTUS remains silent.  When whites say that racism is pretty much over in this country, given the fact that America elected a black president what do we hear from the black community..."Yeah, well, he's only half black".  What did we hear from black leaders, or obama, during the last election when there were members of the black panther party standing outside voting locations to provide "security"?...not a word.  What do you think would've happened if Klansmen or Skinheads would have showed up is support of Palin and McCain?...all hell would have broke loose.

BTW, my "spade" comment wasn't racist, it was simply another way to say "I call it like I see it" or "If it looks, walks, and acts like a duck.."
As for my "Sambo" comment, thats all obama is to me.  Do I see all black people in that light?...No.  Martin Luther King Jr., for example, was a great man that advocated equal rights for ALL people regardless of color.

I'll ask my question again...where was all of this "thats racist and needs to stop blah, blah, blah" when it comes from the other side?  As for that kind of thing happening in our schools...it is. Kids are being sent home or suspended for wearing a confederate flag on their t-shirts because "oh, thats racist" yet blacks and hispanics can wear the mexican flag, or pictures of Hugo Chavez, or Malcom X, or rastafarin images and nothing happens because of "diversity".
