John Richard Sherbon, age 80, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan, Kansas.  He was born February 16, 1930 in Simpson, Kansas to Reginald Vernon and Regaina Mae (Sperry) Sherbon.

He attended and graduated from high school in Lincoln, Kansas.  He later enlisted in the United States Navy.  He worked as an area manager for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 34 years, retiring in 1987.  He married Lena Mae Smith on January 23, 1955 in Manhattan, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Mae Sherbon of the home in Sedan, Kansas; three sons, Kenneth R Sherbon and Lyle E. Sherbon, both of Wichita, Kansas, and James R. Sherbon of Neodesha, Kansas; one daughter, Dera McNown of Moline, Kansas; one brother; one sister; eleven grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be set at a later date.
