Man burned in home fire expected to survive January 05, 2010, 04:08 AM Bay City News Service
A 48-year-old man injured when his mobile home caught fire in Belmont on Saturday evening is expected to survive, a fire marshal said Monday.
The blaze at 100 Harbor Blvd. took nearly 20 firefighters to control after it was reported around 8 p.m., Belmont-San Carlos Fire Marshal James Palisi said. The man was found face down on the driveway suffering from burns and smoke inhalation when firefighters first arrived, according to Palisi.
He was transported to an area hospital and listed in critical but stable condition Sunday morning, Palisi said.
The fire, which destroyed the mobile home, appears to have started when the man left his cooking unattended on the stove, Palisi said.
He said Saturday's fire should serve as a reminder for residents to never leave cooking unattended.
"It can happen very, very fast," Palisi said of a kitchen fire ignited by unattended cooking.
The cost in damage was estimated at $25,000.

I talked to David today and he is doing very well. He is getting some semi-solid foods to eat and he continues to do his breathing treatments and says his lungs are feeling better alll the time. The ares that had skin grafted are healing very well and he says they don't hurt that bad it feels more like a sunburn on the grafted areas. He did express his appreciation for all of the cards and notes from so many people. Thank all of you.
