James Franklin VanDorn, 67, of Longton, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Independence.
 He was born April 26, 1939 in Woodward, Okla. to Everett Forest and Norma Viola (Maurer) VanDorn.  He attended school in Oklahoma City, Okla.  Due to disability, he helped out as a farm hand on his family farm most of his life.  He moved to the Sedan area in 1980.  He later moved to Longton in 1998.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and liked model cars.
 He is survived by one brother, Everett VanDorn of the home in Longton, and one sister, Brenda VanDorn of Oklahoma.
 He was proceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill who passed away in 1998.
 Cremation has taken place and a memorial service were held Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chautauqua with Joe Thomas officiating.
 The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Heart Association and these remembrances may be left at the funeral home.
 David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan is in charge of arrangements.
