Wayne Alvin Salisbury, age 81, a lifetime resident of Howard, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.  He was born on March 8, 1928, the son of Wayman L. and Mabel Ruth Salisbury.

Wayne attended various schools in Elk County.  On March 24, 1949, Wayne was united in marriage to Norma Preston in Howard, Kansas.  They lived and farmed northeast of Howard until around 1960 when they moved into town.  He continued to care for and raise cattle until 2008 when his health prevented it.  Wayne loved music and his hobby was playing his guitar and singing.  Wayne accepted Jesus Chris as his Savior and was baptized in early adulthood.

He is survived by his wife, Norma, of the home; two nephews, Dale Salisbury of Hutchinson, Kansas and John Salisbury of Texas; one niece, Linda Busch of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and one sister-in-law, Diana Salisbury of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Frank Salisbury, Ival Salisbury, and Dale Salisbury.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Interment will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery.  Family suggests contributions to the First Baptist Church and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.

So sorry to hear this.  Norma grew up just 2 miles south of where I grew up and we also worked together for several years at the bank.  My sympathy to her and her family.
