Lees--Veach

Married, May 21, 1938, at Tulsa, Miss Mary Jane Lees and Mr. Lee Roy Veach, both of Howard.  Mrs Veach was born and reared at Howard and graduated from our high school.  She early became interested in music and took special instruction at Wichita for a year or more.  She was assisted as contralto in the younger choir at the Presbyterian Church and also in school affairs.  We feel that we can say that her practical education has not been neglected and that she will be capable of doing her part toward the making of a good home.

Though unacquainted with the groom, we hear nothing but commendation of his industry and his serious effort in procuring his education.  He is also a graduate of the Howard high school.  The young couple will live in the former Fred Barackman house, and Mr. Veach is employed by Ray Perkins who owns the land.  The best wishes of all, including those of the writer, accompany Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roy Veach.

I remember these people.  For a number of years, their oldest son, Ross, and I were in the same class in grade school, until they moved away.  There was also another son, Ian.

If I remember correctly, I think they moved to Emporia, as Mary Jane was planning to go to college there.
