  I can't say the third party senators did much good though.  They all sided with the Dems in this health care thing.   

Thats kinda my point.  So much for the 3rd party.  We need to throw everyone of the bastards out and start over.

Some of these 3rd party politicians are just like the Democrats & Republicans.
For example, the so-called "independent moderate" is just another term for
liberal and socialist.  No difference there.

There are some new 3rd parties that are rising that I like, but I don't think they have the power they need to actually take office.

Third parties are formed when a group has an agenda that they want to push such as the Green Party, making for a better environment.  But, mostly, independent candidates are those that want to run for office and can not get Democrat or Republican support over a favored candidate, so they become independent.  Independent candidates have won offices in which they ran, but for the most part it is the major party people who win.  Independent candidates can draw enough attention and a loyal support group which can undermine the support of a major party, i.e., example---Ross Perot and others.
