Larry W. Hopper, 58, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, November 3, 2009, at his home.  Born March 24, 1951 in Duncan, Oklahoma, he was the son of Thurman L. and Donnie "Sue" (Davidson) Hopper.  He was raised and educated in Texas and attended Blinn College.

Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 2, 1975.  He received his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and was stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Michigan.  He was discharged as a Sergeant on May 30, 1978.  Larry worked for various companies in the computer software and technology departments until his health would no longer allow him to work.  He enjoyed attending the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival and working with computers.  He especially loved all aspects of country music, singing, playing, and composing.  He played country music with the Wagon Wheel Band.

Larry is survived by his mother, Donnie "Sue" Hopper of Winfield, Kansas; his brother, Alan Hopper of Winfield, Kansas; his sisters, Sheila Scott of Winfield, Kansas and Sherri Hasbrouck, currently residing in the Netherlands, Antilles; his nephew and nieces, Darrell Ozbun, Sharla Arndt, and Danielle, Hopper; his great-nephew and niece, Caleb Goosey and Elizabeth Arndt; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Thurman Hopper, on October 31, 2009.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grenola Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas.  A memorial has been established in Larry's name for the American Heart Association.  Contributions may be made though the funeral home.   Miles Funeral Service in Wnfield, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
