Michelle Obama was involved in a Patient Dumping Scheme

If the mainstream media were truly doing its job, they might ask the question why should we trust a President to reform the health care system for the good of all, how come his wife, Michelle Obama and Obama's top political strategist David Axelrod, senior white house adviser Valerie Jarrett and Obama adviser and close friend, Dr. Eric Whitaker were involved in a patient dumping scheme in Chicago.

But the mainstream media isn't.  And that's why they're losing credibility almost as fast as they've lost market share.

Diane,
By your thinking on almost everything WARPH posts, then if there was some sick perverted pedofile that molested a child last Nov, then again in Dec. but since then he has "been clean " then it must be OK, because that was in the past.

Not comparable. I'd really have to look into the Michelle thing more because one of the things we are trying to do here is get non emergencies out of the ER waiting rooms too. You just don't want people tying up ER waiting room seats with someone who wants a catheter changed and didn't want to make an appointment with their own doctor, who should be handling it. Or PD dropping drunks with no medical problems at the ER because they don't want to deal with them. There has to be something better.

Most hospital er's are happy to take insured people to change catheters, etc, because that is money in their pocket.  As far as the drunks are concerned, hospital needs to take it up with the city council.

It's not a matter that it is "old news," Diane.... what matters is that it happened and it is illegal.  As usual, the far-left clowns and the liberal newspapers said little or nothing at all.

Let me help you out in your search....

One of the stories that came out of this mess:

University of Chicago ER sends kid mauled by pit bull home
Neighborhood concerns mount after U. of C. unveils plan to redirect some patients

When a stray pit bull attacked 12-year-old Dontae Adams last August, tearing a chunk of the boy's upper lip from his face, his mother took him to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Instead of rushing Dontae into surgery, however, Angela Adams said, the hospital's staff began pressing her about insurance. "I asked them why that should matter. My child's lip was literally gone," said Adams, a medical assistant whose only insurance is her son's Medicaid coverage.
Adams said she demanded that the medical staff admit Dontae but that they refused. The emergency room staff gave Dontae a tetanus shot, a dose of morphine, prescriptions for antibiotics and Tylenol 3, and told Adams to "follow up with Cook County" in one week, according to medical center documents.
Panicked, Adams took her son on a bus that night for the hourlong journey to John Stroger Hospital. With bloody gauze pressed to the boy's face, they arrived at 5 a.m. Dontae was quickly admitted for surgery so his lip could be fixed and his speech preserved.
"He's fortunate that his mother knew what to do," said Dr. Mark Grevious, the plastic surgeon who reconstructed Dontae's lip. "This was an urgent matter, and it needed to be addressed."

Following the Adams incident, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP)... (which I'm sure you are familiar with, Diane) ....blasted Mrs. Obama and Mr. Axelrod's grand scheme. As you can see by clicking on the website below, the group released a statement expressing "grave concerns that the University of Chicago's policy toward emergency patients is dangerously close to 'patient dumping,' a practice made illegal by the Emergency Medical Labor and Treatment Act (EMTALA)".... (signed by President Reagan, by the way).... and reflected an effort to 'cherry pick' wealthy patients over poor."

So what happen is basically Michelle Obama, Axelrod, Jarrett came up with a plan to bus undesirable (mostly black) patients without insurance to other hospitals so that Univ. of Chicago Medical Center could have the lucrative insured patients.  It seems that the mission of the program has now become to reserve as many beds for well-insured, well healed patients as possible. This is still going on today as we speak!

Also, the hospital continues to receive Federal funds and tax breaks to the tune of $50 million dollars a year.  While under Michelle's watch, the scheme seemed to reap benefits as the hospitals revenues increased and so did her salary which somehow doubled to a whopping $316K a year.  This program was simply set-up to make money for the hospital.  This was not about serving the community and it's poor.  It was simply about lining the pockets of Michelle Obama and with all the Healthcare debate going on today, why isn't anyone questioning her about her involvement in this Patient Dumping scheme?  If the Obama's can develop a plan like this for their fellow Chicagoans, what makes you think that they will do right by the rest of the country?  They simply picked the Chicago political way instead of the right way trying to find a solution to their problem.

Rewarding political cronies at the expense of the poor while posing as guardians of the downtrodden?  I think you can see that Michelle Obama is as bad as her husband and all of his Chicago cronies.  Good old Chicago crooked politics.  Al Capone has to be rolling over in his grave LHAO.  Welcome to the future of Obamacare, folks!

I went back and reread what the writer was up too. There are some real skunks out there hiding behind free speech. So its OK to bring down the whole emergency treatment system in order to stick it to the Obamas? PU!!!! That in itself is very socialist thinking.Ya gotta treat every drunk who falls in the door, not the really sick or injured people who need to be in the ER?  We get abused the same way here and the Obamas have nothing to do with it. If you are dumb enough to go to the ER for a torn hang nail ,you may sit for 24 hours or more while the real emergencies go ahead of you. There is no reason for it. We have lots of free standing walk in medical clinics that give good care and can have you on your way in as little as 20 min. Some are in shopping centers, some are even in drug stores. They are very inexpensive. Sorry, insured people don't show up at ER's for a catheter change, they know better. You want to wait 24 hours sitting in the germ factory? I mentioned that because it just happened here. The ER was packed, the person was told how long they would have to wait...so they went to the phone and called the ambulance to come take them somewhere else! Cute. Our hospitals go on by-pass and refuse patients whenever they have to. We are refused too and sent to other hospitals. Nothing illegal about it. We also have community groups who try to find "appropriate" help for people who don't need the ER but need some non emergency care. How many stories of old geezers who are crawling with fleas do you want to hear about? Ya wanna share ER waiting room chairs with them?  The lady with a tooth ache sitting for hours next to the guy with a runny nose who is sitting next to the kid with a cough? Ya want more?

Diane Amberg

Somebody is comparing apples and oranges here. Hospital admissions for "beds" isn't the same as "treat and release" non emergency patients showing up at the ER because they don't know what else is available to them, and much cheaper too. By the way,t he boy with the dog bite...had he showed up at our inner city Wilmington Hospital he would have been transferred to Christiana Hospital out here near me because that is where such surgeries are done. It's the big Class I Trauma Center. Now that one should have been an ambulance case. We have inter hospital ambulances that would make such transfers. Has nothing to do with social status or insurance.

For your info, I'm the so called "skunk writer" that wrote this post.  I put in a number of links that I thought would be helpful for you so you could look into the "Michelle thing more."  Evidently you didn't.  You immediatly went on a tirade about what I had written.
Who cares about the problems you are having in your ER.  This post isn't about you, Diane, It was about the mis-handling of ER patients by Michelle Obama and her cronies at this one particular hospital.  Sorry, but where did I say "its OK to bring down the whole emergency treatment system in order to stick it to the Obamas?"  Do you honestly believe I'm the only one who thought this whole thing up.  Read the links I provided.

And sorry, but they do.  You forget.... and I had posted this sometime back.... I do volunteer work at one on our hospitals and they do get insured patients for many little things like changing catheter tubes, wound dressings and etc.

It sounds like your hospital needs a clean-up and better control in the ER.

And while I'm at it, I'd like to point out another post that you spouted off on another one of your goofy tirades.  "No body bags and stories of collateral damage to innocent civilians."  Remember that one?  Remember this comment by you asking me if I want body bags?:

Warph, I thought you were supposed to stop throwing names around when the person wasn't part of the conversation. Why the pot stirring and muck raking...isn't that what Varmit was talking about? What's your point? Ya want body bags? Come here and I'll get you an escort.

Diane,  I'm going to tell you a little story about body bags.  I hesitated about bringing this up but what the hell, so I'll make it short and to the point.  Let me ask you, where were you the evening of October 23, 1983?  I'll tell you exactly where you were.  You were sitting in front of your tv, watching prime time news about the 241 service men killed in Beirut, Lebanon by a suicide bomber earlier that morning.  Where was I??  I was on a plane with an advanced party of colleagues from the State Department sent to help investigate what the hell happen.  We arrived at Beirut airport the next morning and 40 minutes after deplaning we were standing in front of this bombed out building where 241 men died the morning before.  The five of us couldn't believe our eyes.  It was totally amazing the damage one truck full of explosives could do (as everyone found out later in Oklahoma City).  We were told to prepare for the worst but that wasn't even close to what we saw.  We were looking at what hell must be like... something I have never forgot and never will.
Later that afternoon our interpreter told us that the Beirut police were holding a raghead they felt was part of the bombing.  It took us four hours to get authorization granted to see this individual.   We and with two JAG's in tow, were shown to the back of the police building.  On the ground was a young man with two bullets holes in his head.  So much for our first clue to what happened.
My brother, who was a marine chopper pilot, was sitting on one the navy vessels off shore.  His job was to fly the brass back and forth from ship to mainland and back and carrying  supplies to the marine barracks.  For the next three days he carried wounded and body bags back to the ships.  He still has ocassional nightmares to this day about what happened and the stacks of body bags.  He lost three good friends in the bombing.
You asked if I wanted body bags.  Lady, I've seen more body bags to last me for the rest of my life and then some.  After that trip I lost ALL respect for the muslim race.  There is nothing more frustrating than dealing with middle easterners.  They lie, whine, twist stories and then act dumb as hell.  To me, their scum.  In the time we spent there, we hit brickwall after brickwall investigating what happened.  The FBI didn't fair much better either at the time.  One important thing that came out of this was our our piss-poor security of the marine barracks and its area.
There is a helluva lot more to this story but I think you get the jest of it.  Most 9 to 5 Americans have no idea what America is up against with these barbarians and what they can do. Your life doesn't mean a thing to them.  They could care less about you and don't you forget it.

Wow Warph!  Awesome post.  My sister was married to a Muslim and has said a lot of the same things that you've said, but people never believe her about them.  "Oh but they're a peaceful religion"
