James Minor Hupp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Minor B. Hupp, was born in Osage county, Kansas, February 2, 1869, and passed away January 20, 1939 at 3:45 p.m. at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 18 days.

He was married to Edith Riggs, August 31, 1900 and they moved to their home near Howard.  To this union were born five children.  Mrs. Glee Innes of Antioch district, Mrs. Greta Crumrine of this city, Mrs. Dorothy DeYoung of Riveria, California, Miss Jimmie Doris Hupp of Huntington Park, California and James, Jr. of the home address.

He had spent practically all his mature life in Elk County, as a farmer and stockraiser, and had formed many friendships here.  He was a kind and loving husband and father, and was ever faithful to his trust---always doing what was right.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and children, three sons-in-laws; five grandchildren, Iva, Ilene,, J.A., Donnie, and Ray Innes, five brothers, Rev. J. M. Hupp of Scotia, New York; H. E. Hupp and George Hupp of Los Angeles, California; T. A. Hupp of Overbrook, Kansas, and J. W. Hupp of Monte Rose, Colorado and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Hupp was a member of the Howard Baptist church and was also a member of the Howard I.O.O.F. Lodge.

Funeral services were held from the Howard Baptist church, Monday, January 23, 1939, at 2:30 p.m., Rev. J. S. Bunch of Fredonia, in charge.  Interment in Grace Lwan cemetery, Howard, Kansas.
