Walter Street, son of James A. and Amanda Smith Street, was born at Howard, Kansas, on October 18, 1885, and passed away on May 25, 1955, at St. Joseph hospital at Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 69 years, 7 months and 7 days.  He spent his entire life within one-half mile of his birth place, moving to his present home at the time of his marriage to Martha M Frahm in the Lutheran church at Winfield, Kansas on December 25, 1907.  To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter. One son, Vernon, passed away on July 24, 1922, at the age of three years.  He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and two sisters.  The one brother, Dan, passed away on February 14, 1955.

He leaves to mourn his passing his faithful wife, Martha, of the home, his sons, James, of Moline, and Walter Eugene, of Wichita; his daughter, Vera Smith, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Samatha Smith, Ronald and Sue Ellen Street and Ricky Street; two brothers, Fred and Frank Street of Moline; two daughters-in-law, Fay and Nona Mae Street; one sister-in-law, Ruby Street; one aged aunt, Minnie Street, of Moline, Kansas; several cousins, and a host of friends.

He spent his entire life as a farmer and stockman.  He was a loyal citizen, a good neighbor and always ready to help when needed.  A faithful husband and a loving father, he will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends.  He had been in very poor health for more than four years and had suffered greatly with little complaint.

Funeral services were held at the Moon Chapel, Saturday, May 28th, at 2:30 p.m.  Officiating was the Rev. Don Basham of the Christian church.  Interment was in Grace Lawn cemetery.
