Elk Falls (older photo) and Elk Falls 1916

Both these picture are looking north of main street. In the old picture of that false front building that says "DRUGS". Stevie Cunningham moved that building to the SW edge of Elk Falls quite a few years back. No one knew it said DRUGS until he started scraping the old layers of paint off, then it became visible. I think it's still part of the B&B---and I use that term lightly, but has been painted over again.

"If one of the many corrupt...county-seat contests must be taken by way of illustration, the choice of Howard County, Kansas, is ideal." Dr. Everett Dick, The Sod-House Frontier, 1854-1890.
"One of the most expensive county-seat wars in terms of time and money lost..." Dr. Homer E Socolofsky, KSU

Roma Jean Turner

I always enjoy seeing the old pictures.  Thanks
