Diane, I hope you found some good recipes for the sweet potatoes.  It is getting cold here in Texas and I need to start cooking things in the oven.

Our leaves are actually turning color this year, I took some pictures in the yard today and have noticed several trees that are red.

Jim made a delicious Sweet Potato Pie the other day. Took 3 sweet potatoes, tasted a little bit like pumpkin. Very good. He used a graham cracker crust - only because the stores were closed and neither of us wanted to make a crust from scratch. It worked, though. Mmmm.

My first sweet potato pie was made because the daughters didn't want to eat the sweet potatoes.  There was quite a bit left and I told them that they were going to eat it.  Then I made it into a pie that looked and tasted like pumpkin and didn't tell them the difference until it was all gone.

Our afternoon has been spent working on getting the lights on our Christmas trees with Christmas CDs playing in the background and KC/Denver football on TV.  One tree gets multi-colored lights and the other clear ones.   We may be only one in a million families who don't have  pre-lit trees, but we love the skinny shape of our 10 year old bargain trees and will use them until they get too shabby.  Looking forward to the holiday season this year.  Last year I was recovering from surgery and pretty much skated through the holidays without much fanfare.

Well, I'm one who still gets a real tree every year and not quite this early. My Christmas decorating won't start until after
Dec.9th. I always turn on my front porch icicle lights on the evening of Dec.10, which is my sister Carol's birthday. Have  any of you splurged on those huge inflatable yard decorations?

I had an inflatable Snowman.  Loved it.  I gave it to my nephew last year as I thought his little girls would get more enjoyment out of it than Steve and I.
I put my tree up today and listened to Christmas music also.  No prelit for me.

I forgot to mention that yesterday was Al's birthday, so I took him out for a nice Sunday brunch in Maryland and then we rented The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with Judi Dench. Good film. It's a shame she is going blind.
Al is really starting to weaken from the Polio effects as the weather gets colder...lots of leg muscle pain and he can't take some of the best pain killers. It gets really frustrating watching him try to tough it out and be normal. But what can one do but just keep on keepin' on.

Glad Al got to enjoy his birthday.

Is he able to get therapy in warm water?  Seems like that would help.  The weather reporter said we are supposed to get rain tomorrow, I could have told him that yesterday.  Ankle is hurting already.

Wilma, what else did you cook for the girls to eat without telling the what it was.  I told my kids that Brussel Sprouts were just baby cabbages and they ate them until they got to smart for that.

I never knew that. Shame, mother, shame.
