Sarge, you call me Tarhead one more time and I'm going to punch you in the eye----again. Guess the years have dulled your memory about what a tuff little bugger I used to be.
Pam,
I have a couple old crock canning jars I dug years ago when I was in the bottle digging mode. Seems like one is a quart and one a two qt. I know they both have a groove around the top rim and I think I was told they sealed them with wax. Found a Mason canning jar that the "N" in the Mason and the "N" in the "patented" were both reversed. I thought it would make me rich but wrong again. They made a bunch of them. This afternoons detecting was almost a bust. One quarter was just one year past being silver. What a bummer. Did find an even one dollars worth of change---a broken kids spur that would have been neat--and the find that saved the day was a sterling silver spoon. I'll have the coin shop weigh it and give the land owner their half of what it's worth. Gonna hit ol Sarge's yard when he's gone someday and not fill my holes in, then sit and watch his jelly belly jiggle when he sits on his riding mower and makes hay !!

My crock is a quart one too, I use it to hold my big spoons and stuff next to the stove. I've found several of the glass lid jars and I use them for dry beans and rice etc. The kids spur wouldve been a cool find!

What are you going to do for excitement today?  Try pouring a gallon of water in your lap.  Well, maybe it wasn't a gallon, but it was least a quart, a pint, all right a cup.

I had put the Brita filter in the sink and filled the filter.  Later, I found it on the cabinet and thinking the filter was empty, because I hadn't put any more water in it, I tipped it over to fill a pitcher I had in my hand.  Daughter had found the filter in the sink and had filled it again, then set it on the cabinet just before I tipped it.  Needless to say, most of the water that was still in the filter sloshed out and over, into my lap and onto the floor.  Thank goodness for fast drying polyester.  I am almost dry and, no, the floor didn't need mopping, anyway.  I had done that a couple of days ago.

The day is off to a not-so-good start.  I woke early as is my normal routine, had my coffee, headed out the door to go to my daughter's to get granddaughter #1 ready for school, as usual.  ONLY, to find out that my daughter told me yesterday she had the day off.  BIG WHOOPS!  So, we won't be seeing granddaughter #1 today, but will be seeing granddaughter #3 later on as my son (big Dodger fan) and his wife have tickets to the opening day game.  Don't know what to do with the day off.......... :-\

HELP!  I'm talking and I can't shut up!

I came...  I saw...  I had NO idea what was going on...

I'm finishing up designing invitations to a thank you reception at the fire house hall for the contributors of $100.00 or more to our fall fire fund drive. I'm hosting and doing the work organizing it and Our Ladies Aux. will provide the finger food I want to have. So far we have 331 contributors of 100 or more that will be invited, along with all the local dignitaries.  We already have sent thank you post cards to everyone who donated anything. Some of them sent a second donation and amazed me! Our new ladder truck just arrived and will be showcased at the June 2nd early evening event. It is a beauty! It will take about 10 years to pay for but should last at least 25 years. I'm going to ask our board of directors at our next meeting to dedicate the truck to all our our local veterans. I'm sure they will agree to it. It will make it's first "official" parade appearance at our Memorial Day Parade on May 15...the biggest in Delaware. I'll have a banner made up that will be walked down the street ahead of it with the dedication on it and a thank you to  all our supporters. Their is a reviewing stand and the General who announces all the units as they pass by will read a little piece about the new truck.  After the parade the Chief will have have a formal fire service housing and we'll push it (symbolically) into the station. Hopefully we'll have good weather.

Went detecting this morning. Found a brass --Kansas---chauffeur license --39661---exp July 1,1943.
Also found a very ornate copper ,oval belt buckle, the center looks like turquoise but I think it's enamel . It was silver plated but that's all about gone.
I gotta get Roma Jean or MsBear to dig for me. When I started this hobby I dug with a big ass scoop shovel. Now that puppy is worn down to the size of a garden trowel------I aint lie'n !!!!

Ms Bear

I saw the cutest little set of digging tools in a pink tote bag the other day, I will just have to get them to bring with me when I come to Howard.

Ever since IMoved in this house I have wished I could replace the old bent electric pole out front.  Well today a semi somehow hit and broke it.  Yeah.  Sittin' here on the front porch watchin' the young men work.
