What Are You Doing For Excitement Today?

As mentioned, granddaughter #3 is three-years-old today.  Wow! Time flies.  So we will be headed down to Newport Beach today for the big "Hello Kitty" birthday party.  My wife bought her some "Hello Kitty" sheets and a bedspread for her.  It promises to be a good day.  Granddaughter #2 has a softball game today so they will be a little late getting to the party.

Tomorrow, we will be babysitting our newest one, #1 grandson, for a few hours and the birthday girl will be spending the night tonight and tomorrow at my daughter's house.  My son and daughter-in-law have hired out their cotton candy machine to somebody's party for a few hours tomorrow.  I guess they are getting into the business of party vendors.  They have a popcorn maker on wheels also.  And, he just recently bought one of those bounce houses for kids to jump around in.  I heard that tomorrow's little gig is worth a lot of money.  Good for them.  I wonder if there is some clown makeup in their future.  He already has an elf costume and a horse's head.  What could be next?

All is well.

Actually, this is what I did for excitement yesterday.  Our son is interested in some property up near Lake Arrowhead in the local mountains.  It is a 3-story condo that a friend of his wants to sell.  Yesterday, he took my wife and I up there to see it.  Lake Arrowhead is in the San Bernardino mountains about 45 miles to the east of us.  The altitude is just above 5000 feet.  This condo has is huge and well worth the asking price.  My son had some concerns about us being able to go there on occasion if he should buy it, hence the initial trip to see how we would do.

So......still recovering from her back surgery, my wife was presented with about 30 stair steps down to the entrance level which is actually the second level.  These are not steep, but gradual steps so she was able to get down.  His other concern was how I would do in thinner air being on the oxygen.  I didn't have any problem with that until we had to come back up the stairs.  I got a little out of breath then, but recovered quickly.

As I mentioned, the entrance is on the second or mid-level.  This level contains a big living room and kitchen/dining area with a deck on the outside.  Going up about six steps leads to the "mezzanine" level where there are two bedrooms, a laundry and a bathroom.  Going up 15 more steps leads to the huge master bedroom with a bathroom, fireplace and a deck on the outside.  Going back down past the entry level there is a another staircase with about 15 steps going down to the first level.  Here there is a den/family room with a bathroom, fireplace, big screen and a deck on the outside.  All in all, a big place and very comfortable.  He wants to buy it, but they love living at the beach which they do in the winter (off-season) time from September until the end of May.  They would then live in the condo in the mountains in the summertime.  I think he is planning to rent it out during the winter as a weekly vacation place.  The lake is nearby and although I haven't really looked, I am sure there are ski areas close by.

What was nice about the day, other than seeing the condo, was the trip into Lake Arrowhead village itself and have lunch looking out on the lake.  It was a little windy and chilly up there.  My son was wearing a short sleeve shirt as was my wife.  Neither had brought a jacket or sweater.  But the old guy, me, being savvy about these things brought a jacket.  I may be getting older, but not dumber.

All in all a really good day.

Remember the last picture of Bud that I posted?  He was in his tipi that he had claimed as his own while it was being designed to be a ghost.  Perhaps I can find it and post it with this.  Anyway, he had lost interest in it again and needing a sheet for the ghost for the yard, I borrowed his.  This left an uncovered tomato cage standing in my living room.  It and a jack-o-lantern designed to look like a scarecrow head inspired me to buy a length of Halloween material with the intention of creating another goblin for the front yard.  The second or perhaps the only accompanying photo is the result.

Ms Bear

Bud likes his hiding place, hope you don't put it outside.

Wilma

It doesn't look as if I will get to put it outside.

Wilma

Bud won.  I bought another tomato cage today so I could make my goblin to put outside.

Have a great week and for you faithful readers there are plenty of devotions to reread or someone else can post something for all to read. See you later, God willing................and the creek don't rise.
