Okay....I really need clarification as to who Bud is:  your husband or a male cat/dog?
Either way, I can understand wanting your swag back if he is your husband, but the animal smell has an oil base, and it didn't ruin your washer???

Bud is that handsome fella in my profile picture.  I'm not sure what the smell was, but I wasn't going to store it in my closet for a year and it didn't ruin my washer.  Bud's interest in it could simply be due to the fact that it was a smell that he didn't recognize.  He is an indoor cat, with no exceptions.  His only forays outside are in the completely enclosed back porch with the screen door locked on the inside.  He has no contact with other animals as he won't tolerate them in his house.  But he has plenty of human friends.  Sometimes I wonder who they come to see as the first thing anyone says is, "Where's Bud?".

Maybe I should dust ol Sniffer off, put in new batteries and get back to detecting !!

Amateur prospector finds massive gold nugget in Australia
Published January 17, 2013

FoxNews.com

An amateur prospector is looking to cash in after uncovering a massive gold nugget in Australia, estimated to be worth more than $300,000.

The golden discovery was made at a prospecting area outside Ballarat in the country's Southeast area, and weighs 177 ounces, ABC News reports.

The prospector, who wished to remain anonymous, found the nugget with a metal detector and has turned to a gold shop owner for help in finding a buyer.

Cordell Kent, who owns The Mining Exchange Gold Shop in Ballarat, told ABC News that out of 800 prospectors on his books, only a few have ever found a nugget that weighs more than 100

By all means, Jar, dust off ol' Sniffer and go to work.  Just keep us informed as to what you find and share the fortune if you top this Aussie's find.

This last week has been trying.  My wife, bless her heart, has been very sick with a bad cold.  This doesn't mean things have changed as she stays in her room, in bed, with her back problems anyway.  What is trying is the few things that she does manage to do for herself, she has had to rely on me to do them.  No problem, it's in the vows.

Today, my son invited us to come down to the beach and have lunch and just hang out.  My initial response was that MOM is sick and I don't think we will be able to come down.  When my wife heard about this, she insisted that I should go.  She will be just fine here by herself.  This meant that her cousin would be going with me.  However, her cousin is not really up to par either and has chosen to remain home.  This means............

I HAVE THE WHOLE DAY TO MYSELF........ALONG WITH MY SON AND HIS FAMILY AND I JUST  HEARD THAT MY DAUGHTER AND HER FAMILY WILL ALSO BE GOING TO THE BEACH.  WOOHOO!

I know.............sounds selfish.  But, for people who have had a few times of being a caregiver, a day off is like a ray of sunlight.  She will be just fine with her cousin here.

Gotta go........breakfast, shower, and hit the road to the beach! 8)
