Wilma, I love those candy bowls.   I am ready for Fall and Halloween, have even put out some decorations but after picking them up a few times they will probably not stay out until Halloween.

Something, probably a coon has killed all of the last three litters of kittens so I was able to catch three of this litter and bring them in the house.  Nothing is safe from them.

I went to San Antonio this last weekend and was able to see some that I missed last time.  This time we made sure we went to the Missions and they were really interesting.  I could probably spend a month in San Antonio and still not see everything.  It was a very good weekend.

I can only hope the day will get better.  Both granddaughters showed up grumpy.  One refusing to bring her spelling words in the house because she didn't want Nana to give her a test.  The other is having picture day and began throwing a tantrum because Nana didn't jump right up and fix her hair.

We alternate Fridays with the other grandmother.  This isn't supposed to be our Friday.  Last night, we heard from our daughter that the other grandmother was going out of town and we would get the girls today.  There seems to be a lack of communication here.  It would have been nice to have a little more notice.  Apparently, the other grandmother told her son and he failed to pass it on.  What a dork!

Sheeesh.

HELP!  I'm talking and I can't shut up!

I came...  I saw...  I had NO idea what was going on...

Remember this one. I have to use it occasionally myself.

 That's good.  I will keep it in mind.

However, family is family as I always stress to my children.  Family comes first.  I will not leave my children in a bind when I can help them out.  My daughter and son understand and respect that and do try not to take advantage of us.  But when it comes to "last minute care for my granddaughters," there is no question about it.  Unfortunately, in this day and age, our children, both husband and wife have to work to keep up.  Having to pay for expensive day care is not an option when there are grandparents around.

On the other hand, while we see our daughter who lives close by and we have the granddaughters two or three days a week, this week went by without any contact with our son or daughter-in-law.  This is not unusual as they are extremely busy.

I was just letting off a little disgruntled steam, so to speak. ;D

Family always comes first....Of course.

Third day of Fire Prevention Week and I'm already tired. We've been doing as many schools as we can cram in this week with some of us doing the  personal  safety teaching and others showing off the fire engines and getting the little ones used to the gear  and the noise and smell. We've been booked for weeks, but still had a few who didn't call until Monday morning wanting us to go the next day... Sorry, we'll get there when we can!
Know two ways out of where ever you are.  Be sure to check out your smoke detectors and feed it a new battery if it needs one. If it's 10 or more years old ,please replace it. The poster this year is really cute with rabbits and Sparky. The idea being that rabbits have two ways out of their burrows.I guess bunnies are better than ground hogs! Back to work.

It's a thunderstormy day in central Oklahoma, but I love being inside and hearing the thunder and listening to the rain on the roof.  We need the moisture so badly, but hopefully the hail and possible tornadic storms will just weaken and move over us.  Our OU Sooners football team whopped Texas today at the Red River Rivalry in Dallas, so that is always a good day at our house!!!!!

And it looks as if the other Oklahoma team is beating KU.

I'm for KU in that game, but it's not looking too good for them..................

It's a mixed-emotion game. I love KU, but I graduated from Oklahoma State. I'm happy no matter which team wins.  :D

And I love the weather today! Beautiful rain, thunder, clouds, sun shining through sometimes.
