I stand corrected. Here are the horns I will listen to tomorrow.

I went to Al Hirt's club as well. Also listened to John Prine in one of the sidewalk joints.

My father indoctrinated all of us with every genre of music as well as Jose Jimmanez, Bob Newhart, etc. After all, there were only three channels on the black and white, and it wasn't stereo.

Love Chase!  I had to brush some cobwebs aside to see if I still had their album.  Great music.

I came...  I saw...  I had NO idea what was going on...

Many years ago Daddy had to give a paper at a conference in NO and got to go to Pete Fountain's place and saw Al Hirt too. Our whole family loved their music.
On another "note".... ;)   Our military buddy Chip just received a nice award from the Secret Service and the Intelligence  Community "with honor and distinction for aiding and assisting seriously injured members of the US Secret Service and Intelligence Community, inclusive of all the US Military." I'm so proud of him.
He's a good friend, member of our fire company and was with a medical rescue chopper crew in the Mideast. He did some pretty amazing repelling rescues over there.
Now that he is home to stay, he's a firefighter/ EMT at the Delaware City refinery  and member of the State Police Helicopter rescue crew. I thought he might get used yesterday as we had a big search for a missing man with dementia who lives close to here. He walked away from his home Thursday afternoon. His family finally called the police and fire company to help yesterday afternoon and it was put on Philly TV.  They searched for many hours until it was too dark to see. As of right now, still no luck. I have a very bad feeling about it.

Ms Bear

Diane, I hope they do find him before it is too late.  We have that happen here in Houston too often, usually without a good outcome.

Still no sign of the missing man. Hope is running out. We've even been watching the skies for vulture activity. His family is just frantic. I'm afraid some hunter will find him one day soon.  Ms Bear he is in very good physical health and used to walk a lot. but now they don't think he could find his way home. Very sad. We had a perfect day for Newark Community Day all up and down the UD Green.Thousands of people came. Now I'm tired.

Not exactly what I did today, but I did do it last night. Watched 60 minutes interview of Adele. I had heard of her before but never really paid much attention. Since my Al Hirt post I have been listening to much of my old vinyl out in the barn. I think she has some of the old school charm that I liked about the Al Hirt Video. Simple, not a lot of glitz and glam. Just a beautiful voice without a lot of the extra production we see today. She kinda reminds me of Dusty Springfield. I think she probably has one of the best voices going right now. Here is my favorite song of hers from Royal Albert Hall, which from further reading, I found to be what many critics are saying that her voice was at her best. Other of her songs were more popular than my favorite from what I read, but here it is"

Today we celebrated #3 granddaughter's second birthday.  My wife was not feeling good what with all the pain and opted not to go.....a tough decision for her because she really loves this child.  As it turns out, she would have been miserable.  So I and her cousin went, stopping in San Dimas to the east of us for two giant pizzas.........I'm talking pizzas that are three feet across... and then on to Newport.  When we arrived, my son came out to park the car for me (parking is limited and he always parks my car for me) and mentioned that the pizza place called about twenty minutes after we left there saying that nobody had paid for the pizza.  I just assumed he had paid when he ordered.  So he paid them over the phone this morning.

The people that were there were all that I had met before and I got lots of hugs from a couple of my favorite young ladies, so my day was good.  One of these young ladies recently completed the Ironman competition in Houston and more recently took first place for her age group (40-44) in the Malibu triathalon two weeks ago.  She is a beautiful woman and doesn't look athletic at all, but she is very good at these races.  She rides at least five miles a day on her bike before breakfast.  But looking at her you would think she used to be a super model.  There were many kids there to enjoy the popcorn machine and the cotton candy maker.  After a hour or so of our arrival, most went down to the bay side beach and the kids all went out and played in the water and the sand.  Then we all came back only to have the guest of honor crash for a nap.  She woke up just before we left.  We left around 5:30 and stopped at Starbucks for a coffee and then drove home.

My daughter-in-law has managed to move all their things into the beach house for the off-season and still have everything decorated and refreshments and food for at least 30 people all in two weeks.  She is just so amazing and so beautiful.

Life is good.

We're getting a much needed nice steady rain in Oklahoma today.  My excitement for the day is just relaxing at home, getting some jobs done around the house,  and thinking about making a pot of homemade potato soup for supper.  Yummy...............

The missing man alert is up to gold level now. Search dogs and blood hounds were brought in and they found traces 6 miles away near where I grew up in PA. Unfortunately it has rained several times since he walked away.
The park rangers have searched all of the nearby state park where he was known to have been too. Everyone who can spare the time has been out looking and everyone on this side of the area has been asked to check sheds, barns, under decks, and bridges, anywhere he might have taken shelter. There is plenty of water to be found and the nights haven't been deadly cold yet, so he actually might still be alive. We've been watching for vulture activity as we have many here, but nothing unusual yet. I'm still very skeptical.
We had a date night last night and went to another local upscale Italian Restaurant, Sofrittos. They do a real antipasto that is wonderful...and huge. I had calamari after and we brought a lot home.
On the way home we stopped and got our flu shots. If you take it, it's getting to be time again. This year's has a combination of three dead  flu bugs and if you'd rather, some places have a four pack that can be inhaled...harder to find and more expensive though.
Went to the next to last reunion meeting on Tuesday night. We're having fun, but will be glad when the real weekend gets here. We have one couple coming from Australia! On the way home I nearly got hit by a deer, who jumped out, right where I knew they lurked, so I was going slow. On the one hand, I'm glad my car wasn't damaged. On the other hand, venison is good!
