Had my first hummer show up yesterday.  This is the first year that I have put out a feeder :)

Aren't they fun to watch? Ours are still missing but the wind is still in the North so I don't think they will come until it changes to SE or S.
So, today I start my "to do" lists. We're taking the train up to New York City next Sunday morning. Be back Wednesday evening.

Glad you are back, too, Mrs. Sixdogsmom.

It was beautiful down at the beach.  My son and I took the two oldest down to the bay side beach and let them get filthy.  It was nice to have some one-on-one with him.  The youngest granddaughter was taking a nap along with her mom and so was Nana.  After about two hours of good ol' Vitamin D, we came back to some Thai food ordered by my daughter-in-law.  Not much of a fan of Thai food, but I ate it.  Daughter-in-law assured me the noodles were rice noodles and gluten free, but there was something, maybe in the sauce on the meat, that wasn't.  Then I began to feel like I was relapsing back to the cold in my chest and fell asleep while my son took the girls to the ocean side of the beach.  I wound up sleeping on the couch for a few hours and waking with a stomach ache.  We went home and I immediately took care of what I do every night such as make the coffee in the self timed coffee pot and took my pills, took care of the dogs and was out like a light.  I always get up early around 5 or 6.  This morning I woke at 6 and came out to my recliner, but went back after a couple of hours and went back to sleep.  Next thing I knew it was noon and the Laker game was going to be on.  My wife had also gone back to sleep and I had to wake her for the game.

For all of you unfamiliar with the "bay side beach and ocean side beach" my son lives on a peninsula.  Two blocks to the southwest is the ocean, therefore ocean side beach.  The bay side beach is a short block to the northeast and that is where all the boats are anchored.  I prefer that side because I like to watch the boats and there are no big waves so it is a safe place for the kids to play.  If you have Google Earth, just type in Newport Beach, CA and you will see the peninsula, or look at any map of that area.

I put the first coat of dark(ish) red paint on my front door!! We decided it was time to decorate the house a bit since we are sticking around for at least another year. Painting the inside will be next!

For excitement today, I am wishing I was the one taking the train to New York City or the one on the beach! lol

And Diane, I want to hear from the one back east and all about her outing in New York City.  I love to hear from the ones on both coasts on this forum!

I'll write a bit about it when we get home. I don't think we are going to have time to see Lion King and tickets are sky high, but next week would be the week to go if we could. The brother of a friend went to school at Julliard and is a professional musician in NYC. Next week he will be playing in the pit orchestra (trombone or trumpet) for Lion King.
I agree with you. I love hearing what Larry is doing and I wish we would hear from Bonnie more often.
Lisa, good luck with the paint job. When I get some good NY bagels I'll think of you!

We just got home from Al's annual Polio doctor's visit at Radnor PA's HUP facility.
His stamina is down by about 20%, but his strength in the polio affected muscles is still about the same. His new leg braces are supporting him well. All in all, a good appointment. We came home by way of Springfield PA to see what the new owner had done to Al's aunt and uncle,s place that was sold after they both died.Fancy new door and front triple windows. They expanded the big family room to include the attached garage and replaced the garage door with a big bay window. The large back yard has been fenced in too. It's nice to know the house has another good family there to give it heart. Lots of good memories there.
Just down from there is a good bagel shop, so we stopped in for Nova lox with cream cheese, onion, tomato and capers on an "everything." YUM!
