Mr. and Mrs. Ed Burris of Howard announce the marriage of their daughter, Mrs. DeEtta Burris Smith, to Clifford Beaumont, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Beaumont of Howard.  The wedding was held in the Methodist chapel at 2:30 p.m., April 10, 1955.  The Rev. Phonce L. Mitchell officiated at the single ring ceremony and the traditional wedding marches were played by Mrs. Mitchell.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a turquoise crepe two-piece suit with a short flaring jacket and full upressed pleated skirt.  She wore a small white crocheted hat with open crown, and carried white wrist length crocheted gloves.  The costume was accented by a beautiful zircon necklace and earring set, a gift of the groom.  Her corsage was of red carnations.

Mrs. Harry Wyler served as matron of honor and wore a gray crepe dress with pink and white accessories.  Harry Wyler served as best man.

Following the wedding, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.  The cake was an oblong three tiered wedding cake, decorated in green with yellow rosebuds.  The tiny china bride and groom which topped the cake were the same ones which had been used on top of the cake at the 50th wedding anniversary of the bride's grandparents.

Those assisting at the reception were Misses Ila and Alice Beaumont, the groom's sisters. Mrs. Wayne Helms and Mrs. Harry Wyler.

After a short trip to Independence the couple is now at home on the north Beaumont farm.

This is interesting.  An oblong wedding cake, three tiers, decorated in green with yellow rosebuds.  I would have loved to see this.  I love De Etta.  She is a nice lady.
