QuoteReally, I get my eggs from a 70 old year woman that just gives them away because she can't use that many.  She has the chickens so she has something to do.  I in turn make her treats with recipes she finds and thinks sounds good.  I also share the eggs with others and I don't charge either.

When we had chickens we gave the eggs away when we had extra - which was usually. We started with the chickens as a 4-H project for the kids, then grew to like the fresh eggs and the "natural" garbage disposal chickens provide.  :D

I loved that "natural" garbage disposal.  It still hurts to just throw sink garbage away and I can't do it without thinking of the "natural" ways of disposing of it.

Seriously, my previous town, Aurora, Co, population 300,000, recently voted down a citizens' initiative to allow chicken raising in all residential areas.

I think what might have turned the city council off was several herds of black and white cows marching through the city with placards reading "More Chickn" "More Chickn."

Let's see by my rough calculations Steve and Pam have been ranting for around 31 hours less a few hours of sleep. Actually I found this discussion very fascinating. I think they both made some very good points. I also, found that in many instances I could agree with both of them when they were arguing different sides of a seemingly opposing view due to the general nature of their examples. Basically it just reaffirms my belief that very few things are black and white just varying shades of gray. So are you guys done ranting or should we wait for the next two folks to get in the ring. I really enjoyed this thread and I hope Pam and Steve take that as a compliment, as that is what I intend it to be. Thanks Steve and Pam. :)

LOL I think I got it out of my system now :P This was a good one! :)

Angie and I are seriously addicted to Chick Fil A.  Have to stop there and have an original anytime we're within five miles, and there are three of them within 30 miles of Gentry!

The first one I patronized was in Oklahoma City in 1978 or so. Could not believe a chicken sandwich could taste so good and there were none in Wichita. (I assume there is now)

At the time, the company specialized in operating only in shopping centers. In recent years, they have opened free standing drive in sites and have several throughout the Denver area.

One would have to admire those folks for sticking to their sixty-three year old policy of not opening on Sundays.

When I worked at Sears in Town East, there was one 2 or 3 doors north of lower level, center court (coming out of Sears and turning north towards Dillard's).  But you're right, their website doesn't list any for Wichita, other than as part of the food cafeteria in the Wichita State University Uniion.

You know i haven't seen one in wichita.  First one i ever ate at was back in early 70's in Atlanta georgia.  They started the restaurants there in the malls around the metro area.  I don't remember which one was the first one though.   Company has been around a long time and they have never opened their doors on a sunday.  Company is a christian company that believes that if they operate on the lords day that it will cost them in profits.  So far they have been a major success.
Curb your politician.  We have leash laws you know.
