Louis Fredriick Mason, son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillips Mason, was born at Howard, Kansas, July 22, 1873.  He was a member of a pioneer family that moved from Iowa to Kansas in the early '70's.  He spent 69 years of his life on the Mason homestead in the Antioch community.

On December 8, 1895, he was united in marriage to Nora Katherine Keller, who preceded him in death on March 3, 1957.  The early and late years of their life was spent on the farm.  Five years ago they moved to Howard, retiring from the farm labor.  Mr. and Mrs. Mason celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary last December 8, 1956

The surviving members of the family are, two sons and one daughter, W. R. Mason of Eureka, Kansas; C.W. Mason, of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Opal Cantelou of Santa Fe, New Mexico; a grand-daughter, Phyllis Thompson, Riverside, California; a nephew, Marvin Mason, Moline, Kansas; a niece, Mrs. Edwin Spease, Moline, Kansas.  The remaining members of the Mason family are now living in Washington state.

Personal friends mourn the passing of Mr. Mason and all will remember the activities and experiences in the Antioch community.

Memorial services for Mr. Mason were held at the Moon Chapel in Howard, Sunday, June 16th, at 3:30 p.m., conducted by his pastor, the Rev. P.L. Mitchell.  The casket bearers were Fritz Weigand, Neil Winn, Harry Webster, George Walters, Arthur Cummins and J. L. Courtright.  Concluding services and burial were at Grace Lawn cemetery, Howard.
