Sarah Palin
George H.W. Bush

Fred Thompson
Other (please list)

I'm just curious to see what the general consensus is of people reading these forums.

Better question is who would you want to be your congressman since they are the ones with the actual power to get things done. President is actually just a paper tiger when you get right down to it.

Interesting that there aren't more votes...   :-\

I don't mind telling anyone that Ron Paul is my first choice... Freddy Boy would be my 2nd..  ;D
( and Pam is right.. we just HAVE to do something about Congress)

I agree with Pam and Teresa. I was surprised that Freddy Boy did not do better in the primary.
Now can someone explain to me why I shouldn't believe in the conspiracy theory that the candidates are chosen for us? After all how did darkhorses McCain and Obama come to the fore front? ??? Just posing the question.

Teresa, give it time, i just put the poll up.

Remember that we here in the politics section are not representative of the general community.  As people who are passionate about politics, whatever side we fall on, we are more savvy than the average voter.  I believe that as a result, we'll see the poll skewed more towards fringe candidates.

I went with "other" meaning Chuck Baldwin in lieu of Ron Paul.

And yes we do need to change some congressmen too - preferably
both Democrats or Republicans being defeated.

Our vote is for other---Ronald Reagan...since no one said specifically living or dead.

2nd choice for the list (and living) would be Ron Paul. He had good points!

I like Baldwin except that i couldn't see a president that tries to push religion on people.  But I'd like to point out one of his quotes for the right-wingers here

QuoteUnfortunately, it has been the Christian Right's blind support for President Bush in particular and the Republican Party in general that has precipitated a glaring and perhaps fatal defect: the Christian Right cannot, or will not, honestly face the real danger confronting these United States .... On the whole, they fail to understand the issues that are critical to our nation's—and their own—survival .... Sadly, this is what the Christian Right just doesn't get: ninety percent of the time, it doesn't matter to a tinker's dam whether a Republican or Democrat wins the White House .... All the pro-life, pro-family, traditional-values, conservative talk is just that: talk. Republicans use conservative rhetoric the same way Democrats use liberal rhetoric. Neither party believes what they are telling their constituents. They merely say what constituents want to hear in order to get elected; after which, they set about to do what their elitist, globalist manipulators tell them to do

Honestly, I would like to see some totally new blood.  If we could pick anyone, not just a politician, I would pick Ted Nugget.
It is high time we eased the drought suffered by the Tree of Liberty. Let us not stand and suffer the bonds of tyranny, nor ignorance, laziness, cowardice. It is better that we die in our cause then to say that we took counsel among these.

Anmar- I wouldn't want to see a President pushing religion either and
I do not think Baldwin would do that.  He does attend a conservative church
and even many so-called conservatives are not attending likewise on a weekly basis.

By the way, we need Presidents who will cease pushing socialism and
socialism is nothing more than an alternative to religion.
