Roberta Fern Fear, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.F. Fear died at Colorado Springs, Colorado, September 7th, 1910 after an illness of ten days, age 8 years, 11 months.  All was done for her that medical skill could do.  Three of the best physicians of Colorado Springs treated her but she had to finally succumb to the dread disease, kidney trouble.  She was brought back to their former home for burial, arriving Saturday evening, September 10th.  The body was taken to the home of her aunt, Mrs. J. H. Liggett, where the home was beautifully decorated with ferns and flowers, the offerings of friends and relatives who loved her.  There were many flowers, among which was a handsome offering sent by Colorado friends.
Roberta Fern Fear was born October 9th, 1901, on her grandfather's farm in Liberty township, where she lived during her short life time.  Last spring the parents decided to take a vacation for a year and spend the summer months in Colorado.  It was while on this trip she was taken sick and finally had to yield to her sickness and passed away.  She leaves father, mother, one sister, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn the loss of one they held most dear.
Fern was an unusually bright girl whether it was work or play, she was always up and doing, ready and willing especially was this so in her school work.  She seemed to take so much interest in her studies and was always a leader in her various classes.
The funeral was held Sunday September 11, 1910 at the Christian church in this city at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Elder Gilbert Park.  A large crowd of relatives, friends and neighbors were there to pay their last respects to the departed.
