Loretta D. Beougher, age 85, of Elk Falls, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas.  Loretta was born April 10, 1924 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of James Franklin and Melissa (Williams) Criss.

On July 27, 1940, Loretta married Wayne Beougher in Wichita, Kansas.  They were married for 68 years until her death.  Wayne survives at their home.  In the 1960s, Loretta and Wayne moved to the Elk Falls area from Wichita.  Loretta worked for Sutton Fan Company, Edo-Aire, and the Longton Public Librry.  She spent the majority of her time being a homemaker and raising her family and helping taking care of her numerous grandchidlren.  Loretta enjoyed reading, watchng wrestling on TV, cooking, and traveling with her husband, Wayne.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Wayne Beougher of Elk Falls, Kansas; four sons, Don Beougher and wife Norma of Elk Falls, Kansas, Kenneth W. Beougher and wife Ann of Winfield, Kansas, Roger Beougher and wife Tina of Longton, Kansas, and Richard Beougher and wife Melinda of Longton, Kansas; three daughters, Wanda Smith and husband David of Elk Falls, Kansas, JoAnn Tilley and husband Don of Haysville, Kansas, and Brenda Beaumont and husband Brian of Longton, Kansas; a brothers, James Criss of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Dorothy Goodwin of Wichita, Kansas; 31 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.  Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, one son, John Wayne Beougher, and a brother, John Criss.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Longton, Kansas  Elk Vally School with Rev. Jim Blocher  officiating. Interment will follow at the Elk Falls Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas on Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.  The family suggests memorial contributions to the Longton Public Library, which may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home, P.O.
