Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).

After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA!

There you go.  But the highpowers of the companies are saving labor costs and making more money.  Of course the working stiff in this country is out of a job so he isn't buying and the economy goes to hell.

Maybe Joe should consider starting his own business.
- Help local economy
- Help local workers

Or, Joe could branch out...Go into other areas of work that he hadn't considered before...I have always been a firm believer that there is no job "beneath" me...If I can get hired, the new job earns monies that spend equally as well as other jobs, so it's a job worth having.

Yep, interesting.  As an employer, I'd think that seeing that someone actually had a job during tough times, no matter what type of job it was, would look better than just collecting unemployment the whole time.  But, on the other hand, having a low-paying job might also prohibit the ability and time to look for jobs that you're trained for, too.
Another interesting thing on that same line of thought... I still see the same amount of job openings at feedyards in the High Plains Journal as I did when the economy was good!  And I know that most feedyards aren't too picky about who they hire, either.

Send Joe here if he can pick crabs. Maryland canneries are short of workers right now and the season is just starting.

Hmmmmm...What kind of tree or vine does a crab grow on?   ;D  Do you have to use a special wrist motion to keep them from bruising, like when you pick apples?  I would think that picking crabs would be a big job! lol  ;D :o ;D
