QuoteThe group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he's bedeviled by a fly in the White House.

PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.

"We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals," PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. "We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals."

During an interview for CNBC at the White House on Tuesday, a fly intruded on Obama's conversation with correspondent John Harwood.

"Get out of here," the president told the pesky insect. When it didn't, he waited for the fly to settle, put his hand up and then smacked it dead.

"Now, where were we?" Obama asked Harwood. Then he added: "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I got the sucker."

Friedrich said that PETA was pleased with Obama's voting record in the Senate on behalf of animal rights and noted that he has been outspoken against animal abuses.

Still, "swatting a fly on TV indicates he's not perfect," Friedrich said, "and we're happy to say that we wish he hadn't."

Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said the White House has no comment on the matter.

Ohhh yeah.. he is impressive all right..
WOW.. I am in flipping awe... He napped that fly with only his bare hands! Whew ..we have a full blown Karate Kid here.. And the media fawning all over it?

This idiot is bankrupting this country and doing his best to strip us of our Constitutional rights and all these asshats are concerned about is a frickin fly?!?  No wonder this country's going to hell in a hand basket.

And now that PETA is an advocate for insects how long will it be before they will be defending the rights of microorganisms such as malaria, anthrax and cholera??? Then is it virus's like influenza and ebola??
They all should be put on a chopping block with me holding the ax!

( Damn..I'm in a good mood today.. Don't you wish I was your Queen in Medieval  times? ) ;D ;D  ;D

Catching flies barehanded is fun. I should run for president since I can do that too!! :D

hahaha..   ;D Ya never know Granny.. he just might be the Presidents Official fly catcher.. ..
My mom taught me to kill them using both hands and sweeping up in an upward movement.. Works every time...
And Peta will be glad to know that their death is quick and sure.. no suffering from the poop eating regurgitating nasty things.

What I think is funny is that PETA sent O a humane bug catcher in response to the dead fly...What's next?  PETA will be sending out diapers for all the cattle, horses, mules, etc., so that the insects won't be squashed by inadvertently falling feces? What a farce.
