Velma L. Scott, age 67, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 11, 2009 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas. 

She was born March 21, 1942 in Borger, Texas to John and Lucy (Taylor) McCormac.  She attended and graduted from Sedan High School in 1960.  She worked as a waitress and later worked for Spears Manufacturing as a quality control operator for ten years before her retirement.

She married Loren Wellner, and he passed away November 8, 1993.  She later married Glen Scott on February 14, 2003, and he survives at the home in Sedan.

Velma was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Caney, Kansas.  She liked to plant flowers, loved her dogs, and especially loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Glen, of the home; a son, Carl Eugene Wellner of Girard, Kansas; two daughters, April Diane Crump of Peru, Kansas and Cindy Ann Alberts of Moline, Kansas; four sisters, Edna Hise of Galveston, Texas, Mary Van Royen of Longton, Kansas, Viola Darnall of Sedan, Kansas, and Nadine Ratcliff of Mesa, Arizona; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, and one great-grandchild.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Caney, Kansas. 

The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas  67361.
