Ruth, daughter of W. W. and L. A. Sims, was born February 6, 1882, in the northern part of Elk county, Kansas, where she grew to womanhood.
On April 29, 1900, she was united in marriage to E. J. Chase.  They have two children now living, Flona aged 9 years and Walter aged 7 years.
Early in life Sister Chase became a Christian and lived and died in the triumphs of a living faith.  Some months ago on account of failing health she was taken to Riverside, California, in the hope that a change of climate would benefit her, but on March 12, 1910, at 2:30 p.m. the final summons came.  The death messenger found her prepared to go.   With sweet confidence she bid adieu to the scenes of this life, launched out on the river of death and set sail for the shores of eternal lilfe.
She was 28 years, 1 month and 6 days of age.  She leaves a husband, 2 children, father, mother, one brother and three sisters to mourn her untimely departure.
Funeral services conducted by Elder Gilbert Park were held at the M. E. church in Howard, Kansas, Saturday, March 19, at 10 a.m. and interment was made in the Cresco cemetery.
